Q:As long as I have clearance in front and on top of this unit, can I set it close to the wall. I think they are a tripping hazard if set out far from the wall.

Answer This Question

A:  Hi Vicki, Yes, this unit has feet so you can place as close to the wall so that no one trips over the unit. They would still need to be aware due to the cord but you can place this facing out as close to the wall as you can. Glen Dimplex Americas Customer Experience Team.

        Answer This Question

A:  Hi Dave, This is a portable heat and should sit on the feet, on the floor as intended and not mounted anywhere. If you are looking for the ones to mount you will need to purchase the ones that get hardwired in. Glen Dimplex Americas Customer Experience Team.

          Fast heat
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The cadet portable electric baseboard heater has been a fantastic addition to our home. We don’t have central heat in our home, only wood heat. So this has really made a difference in how warm our home is. Our daughter is usually more cold natured so being able to move this baseboard heater into her room has been great. The heater is amazingly quiet and starts warming the room immediately. I love that I can move into almost any room and it has the safety automatic shut off switch so if it’s tipped over it shuts off. Plus the built in thermostat helps regulate the temperature in the room. Made in the USA so to me that’s another great plus.

Well made heater that can heat a room or your entire house.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am always hot in my house so I freeze everyone out all the time. I grabbed this heater to use in the basement of my home which is my kids gaming room. It gets really cold down there so he needed something to heat the basement. This heater is perfect for what we needed it for and more. It heats the entire basement and gives off so much heat it could heat my entire house. It is simple to use you just plus it in to the wall turn the knob to the level of heat you like. It heats up the room really fast even on a low setting. I really like that it has legs that are sturdy to keep it from falling over on the carpet. The fact that it is easy to install helps a ton because you can move it anywhere as long as you have a plug near. The heater is well made and looks really nice. I love that it doesn’t look cheap or make loud noises while using it. It is a really long heater that gives off a lot of heat. I would highly recommend this heater to everyone. If your heat is out or messed up this is a great back up or replacement. The amount of heat it gives off you wouldn’t think came from a baseboard heater. I am really happy with this product!

Simple, quiet 1500-watt baseboard heater. We live in a small, 1950s-era brick home, and our basement and back bedroom can get quite cold in the winter. For the bedroom, in particular, we have been looking for heater options that are quiet and unobtrusive. This model fits the bill. I tested it out in our 180-sq. ft. basement family room and it warmed up quickly, cycled off when it reached our target temperature, and shut itself off immediately when I tested the tip-over switch. Also doesn't seem to be drawing an inordinate amount of power -- no dimming of lights on the circuit or anything like that. The smell on first operation is pretty strong, so I would recommend running it for a couple of hours in a garage or covered porch first, to let the smell dissipate. Otherwise, it comes highly recommended.

We got this Cadet Portable Electric Baseboard heater to use in our screen porch this Fall for keeping the chill off while we’re sitting out there enjoying our morning coffee. The room is semi-enclosed but we plan on storing it indoors whenever it’s not in use. Since it’s stated as “portable”, I wish it had a handle on it for ease of mobility as it is awkward to carry. The thin metal housing with plastic end caps is constructed similar in quality as that of a shop light. Though overall it’s 49” long, the actual heating bar inside measures 40” in length. The heavy gauge power cord measures 7’ long and has a 3-prong plug. We like how its low profile blends nicely into the room without it being too noticeable. It warms up quickly and puts out plenty of heat. It’s just what we need.

The 48" 1,500 WATT electric baseboard heater manufactured by CADET, should be a nice addition to my basement workshop (in an unheated part of the basement.) It features a 7' cord and easily adjustable round dial thermostat. After unpacking the heater and reviewing the instructions, I plugged the heater in and set the thermostat for it to run. The heater heats up very quickly and should do a nice job of keeping the chill off the air in the dead of winter in this area. One note of caution: the directions indicate that the unit may lightly smoke and smell strange as it "breaks-in" burning off some of the construction finish. After I had this heater on for about a minute, I smelled it and the smoke detector in this room went off. So, I had to quickly remove the heater from the area & reset the detector. Therefore, I suggest running it for the first time in a garage or outside covered area, until the smell is gone!

I picked this up to use this winter - if necessary. A few years ago I had some ductless HVAC installed upstairs and found out that it doesn't heat well when the outside temperature drops to -5 degrees or below! So I had to come up with a backup system so we don't freeze in our bedrooms. This unit looks great and is easily portable; but I won't really know how well it works until probably January or later - at the earliest.

I am happy to see this product available; I designed my entry hall with one of these in mind but they have become hard to fine. It is portable, roughly 4 feet long, and 110 volt, all what I needed. The convection body is angled, it may distribute the heat better, I hope so. I have owned products like this in the past; I noticed less expansion noise when it started than I have noticed in the past. I wonder if the fact that each fin on the fin pipe is independent contributes to this. The cord is six feet long and three pronged, but an adapter is permissible.

Cadet 1500 watt Portable Baseboard Heater 4P1500W. The heater is 49” L x 5 ¼ D x 7 ½ H and has a 6ft 3 prong heavyweight electrical cord. It puts out 5120 BTU of heat and is controlled by a dial thermostat that has small dots around the dial that indicate when the heat setting is low, the dots grow larger in size as the heat setting increases to make it simple to see the power increase going to the heater. It draws 12.5 amps on 120 volts. The manual is clear and provides operation instructions along with help and warranty information. They have the customer service information prominently on the front cover. Comes with a two year warranty. The operation is simple, first use expect some smoke or odor on the heating element as manufacturing oils burn off, no worries there. I put mine on the porch for 30 minutes wide open to avoid any odor. To use crank it all the way up to heat your area and then dial the knob back until you hear a click, stop, and it will maintain that temperature. It also has an overheat feature that turns it off should it become blocked and overheat and would auto reset after cooling for safety reasons. Should you knock it over it shuts off immediately, stand it back up and it will start again. This is very well made and thought out. The design of it makes it very stable, if it tips over it will have had some help, that is true on hard surface or carpet. I am very pleased with all aspects of this nice looking well made heater.

This 4 foot baseboard heater will warm any 10 by 10 easily within 15 minutes. There is not blower fan. I was quite surprised how easy it heat this room. The original temperature was 68 degrees in the room. After 10 minutes the room was 74 degrees. The baseboard heater should be placed against an open wall to gain maximum efficiency. The heater works by drawing air in thru the bottom inlet and the air warms as it comes in contact with the oil filled radiator and comes out the top warmed air. The process continues until the air reaches your desired setting. The baseboard heater comes with a heavy duty 5 foot cord and is rated 1500 Watts of power. The only problem I have with the unit is that the "thermostat" setting does not come with numbers on it but a series of small circles. However, once you find your desired setting, mark it and its set and forget. I did not find any instructions or warranty information in the box.
