Q:Can I add a bigger tank for more air Reserve
by|Feb 27, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Hello. Yes, you could install a 2-to-1 Industrial air splitter and connect an auxilary air tank; ideal to have reserve air for certain types of applications including painting, cleaning, blasting, etc. We offer 2-gallon, 5-gallon, 10-gallon and 20-gallon expansion air tanks (air vessels). I.E. AUX20S 20-gallon tank on Home Depot: https://www.homedepot.com/p/California-Air-Tools-AUX20S-Portable-20-Gal-Steel-Air-Tank-CAT-AUX20S/326827651

Q:Is this compressor handle a air gin to remove the nuts for a 1/2 ton truck
      by|Jul 7, 2023
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  Air Impact tooling/wrenches normally require ~4 to 4.5 cfm @90 PSI to remove lug nuts when used normally/continuously. While the CAT-8010 (8 Gal, 1 Hp) compressor is rated for 2.2 cfm @90 PSI, it will have 8 gallons of 120 PSI pressure when fully charged, so yes, you could use this air compressor if you are taking your time when working (i.e. remove one or two nuts, allow the compressor to fill up again, then repeat).

Q:Is this compressor water proof ? Meaning if is expose to the rain won?t warm the motor or any other parts.

        Answer This Question

A:  Hello. Actually, no. Please do NOT operate any California Air Tool unit in Severe Elements! This includes outdoors in the rain, below freezing (32F), excessive heat environments (i.e. >90F), high-dust & particle environments. Generally units should operate below 85F (when used for long periods of time) otherwise motor-pump overheating could occur and the the internal thermal fuse will temporarily open and thereby protect the unit from damage.

Lightweight and quiet. Works very well, and is definitely higher quality than a no-name brand. My 13 year old worked well, but was so loud it would startle me if I forgot to turn it off and it kicked on.

It’s super nice to have it turn on and not notice it!!! I use this air compressor way more now that is doesn’t make such a mind numbing sound. Moving it around the shop is way easier than my old pancake compressor.

This air compressor will blow your mind with how quiet it is! We currently use this 8.0 Gal unit for our two air riveters. The riveters are low volume high pressure which is a pretty simple task for most air compressors. I have used it to fill tires and blow out some dust/dirt from our 300 sq ft bay with no issues but beyond that I can't comment on how well it performs with any tools that use higher volumes of air. However despite being very quiet It appears to have no issues filling the tank nor does it seem like there was a trade off in performance to lower the sound. In fact I think it works better than most compressors plus no more waiting until the compressor is finished filling or yelling to finish your sentences. We have had this unit for 6 months now and we are still pleased with it. I would highly recommend this compressor.

#1 priority in my shop is noise, this 8 gal 1 hp compressor is quiet enough to use without ear protection in the same room that I work in. This unit is used for blowing/drying and works great. I have been using a smaller 4.5 gal capacity CAT compressor with same 1 hp motor for 5 years without any issues, it still runs like new. Buy a high quality hose to avoid cheap hose connector leaks. Empty the water from your tank regularly.

I've had this air compressor for 2 weeks. there was not a lot that needed to be assembled right out of the box. It would have been nice to have the air pressure and regulator gauges located on the front of the air compressor instead of up and to the side of the air compressor. Under normal usage the present set-up would have worked just fine, but I placed the air compressor under my workbench to keep it from getting covered with dust therefore making it hard to see the gauges as I had it. This is not a defect in the the design of the product but the design of how I had it installed in my workshop. When they said this compressor was quiet, they really meant it! It far exceeded my expectations in the level of sound it put out. When I first took it out of the box I thought oh my gosh I made the wrong decision this thing is just too small to have any power. But after removing the lug nuts from my car wheels I found out it did have plenty of power to do that, but only being an 8 gallon tank it didn't hold a lot of air so the compressor had to run more often. It really wasn't a problem because it was so quiet. It did have to restart itself after I took off 5 lug nuts but that is just the effect of having an 8 gallon tank. As far as weight goes it's just as light as one of those pancake air compressors but I think it probably has way more power and like I said before it was whisper-quiet. It has plenty of power for staplers and Brad nailers, I haven't tried it on framing nailers yet but I think it would have enough power for that. Overall I'm very happy with the product that I ordered, the only thing that I would do differently next time is to buy a 20 gallon one because I guess It needs more Reserve air for tools like industrial paint sprayers and products that require a lot of air. This compressor is quiet enough that I can put it in my wood Workshop in the basement and get a larger compressor for projects out in the garage. I highly recommend this air compressor for anyone looking to do home hobby type jobs and any jobs that require staplers, nailers or air ratchets. A definite thumbs up.

I bought this compressor it's a good buy! If you need a compressor that doesn't make loud noise the California air tools compressor is for you. The only thing I can think about that is bad ...is there's no water trap? But all and all it's the best compressor I've ever bought! Thank you California air tools!!!

Since I can remember there has always been an air compressor in the garage. My dad used them for spray painting models working on cars etc. I recently sold my Ridgid air compressor because I am getting to old to lug 100 lbs air compressor around. I felt lost these past few months not having one. So I decided to buy this California Air Tools for portability and it's supposed to be quieter than other compressors. I figured well at least it will be easier to move around and It's not cheaper...... Showed up within a few days well packaged, no damaged or scratches. Assembles in minutes just put the wheels and filter on, very easy. Now it was time to fire it up. I turned it on and literally said OMG (well actually something else but this is a family channel). This thing is wicked quiet! Now let's level set, when is the last time you made a phone call standing next to you compressor while it's running full bore?? With this one you can and actually hear the person on the other side. Yes it makes noise and no I won't be whispering to someone while it's running. But I can have a normal conversation, and I will run this in the house without driving everyone mad. Compared to every other compressor I have had this is very quiet. I immediately put it through the harshest test I have. I used it to blow out my sprinkler system 11 zones at 10 mins per means it runs straight for almost two hours. The head did get hot but not scalding hot, if you kept your hand on it a minute or two (not seconds it would burn). Otherwise it worked well, it was even able to blow a fitting off. So my conclusions are; Very quiet compared to all other compressors. Will do what ever other compressors of similar size. Lower horse power so don't go looking for 160 - 200 lbs. Does not come up to pressure as fast due to lower horse power but I can wait size my ears wont be ringing. This particular model would not be ideal for heavy duty air-tools for auto body work. No where near the required volume. Air ratchet to remove tires yeah it will but it will run more to recover (air-tools are high demand). Framing nailer, finish nailer, roofing nailer, absolutely I will be using for those mostly. Does not come with a water filter, spend the extra few bucks and get it. They are good for air compressors regardless of brand. Mine is on order. Keep in mind the more gallons of air you have the more you can do. The HP determines how fast it will replace the used air and how much pressure can be obtained. If you need more of both and want quiet, then you will need to go up in size. If you are comparing between a pancake compressor and this. The extra money is worth the noise reduction it is significant and I recommend it.
