Makes kindling fast
This wood splitter is a handy little device for making a pile of kindling and starter sized logs for a fire. The unit is well built and make of study steel. I is designed to be bolted into a stump using the two pre drilled holes in the base. The you just set the log to be split in the top on the blade that is mounted and using small sledge or drilling style hammer pound the log into the blade which will then split the log. The process worked well, the only reason I didnt give it a full five stars is that the blade is not even remotely sharp. It requires a good deal of force to get a log started, I will probably end up taking a file and trying to put a better edge on it, I dont think you can get an angle grinder in the limited space.

Split Logs Not Atoms
The Autmoon Carbon Steel log splitter is smaller than I thought, at 12" high and 9" wide, and also lighter - making it easier to move around and transport. The frame is fully welded steel with a powder coat finish. I found splitting logs quite easy with my three-pound hammer. One light hit to 'set' it on the blade and then one follow through strike was all it took to split 4" logs. I'll be using this for my home firepit and at camp. Pretty excited about the ease and safety of the Autmoon splitter and would recommend.

Super cool kindling splitter- sledge not included.
This is a very cool kindling chopping tool/wood splitter. Built out of very heavy gauge steel, it was not flimsy or wobbly at all when I was chopping a piece with a big knot in it with an 8 pound sledge. I like how the “blade” is long enough to allow the wood to pinch and hold itself (so you don’t have to hold it) before it gets wider to spilt the wood. I don’t think I’d spilt a lot of wood with it but for chopping kindling, this is a great tool. It even has some little pads on the bottom which I am guessing is for use on a finished hard surface. They are removable and come off easily- maybe too easily.

split small logs
I have been splitting wood for years, and I have tried a variety of different methods. I have used axes, chainsaws, and even a hydraulic wood splitter this is handy when i need to make some kindling with out starting up my gas powered splittter. This has four holes on the base so it can be installed on a raised flat surface which is my plan The splitter is made of high-quality carbon steel and has a black powder coating to protect it from rust.

kindling and small logs
splitting wood for me is a year round job. I decided I needed this to make kindling a safer this can be used to split wood without the need for an axe or a chainsaw. It is made of high-quality carbon steel and has a black powder coating to protect it from rust. The splitter has a top ring that holds the wood in place and a bottom blade that splits the wood. It is easy to use and can be stored in a small space. There are two holes on the bottom of the base so it can be secured onto a platform. Which I will be doing.

Heavy duty log splitter
Well-made, heavy duty log splitter with very strong, heavy duty welds, teeth that will widen the log split, and a strong base with screw holes for attaching to a stump or other base. This worked very well for splitting oak that I have on my property, where oddly shaped pieces just won’t do with a normal axe, this comes in perfectly handy. I screwed it into a bunch of pine decking boards, and it held solid, let me tear through a bunch of wood without issues and held up to the beating I gave it. The only minor thing I noticed was a bit of the paint chipped off near the blade, but that is to be expected with the amount of work I put this through and edges that see a lot of abuse. All in all, a well-made, heavy duty product. Would recommend this.

Okay for splitting short, seasoned logs of minimal diameter or scrap lumber.
Ordered the wood splitter for my fire pit area to split logs for smaller fires and kindling. The unit will accept logs up to 8 inches in diameter. Wood is placed in the splitter and struck with a hammer to drive the wood through the splitting blade. I did not have good results with the splitter. Logs must be fairly short (12 inches or less). of minimal diameter, and very dry for the unit to split the wood. Longer or greener logs will not split when struck with a hammer and can get stuck in the splitting blade when the bottom of the log reaches the bottom of the splitter or ground level. The best use for this unit may be splitting short, seasoned logs of minimal diameter or splitting scrap lumber for kindling.

The key is to attach a good solid base. I use a mallet to get the wood started and the sledge hammer will split the wood in one or two swings.
