Q:Could this be used for getting a John Deere riding mower (weight 450 lbs), plus rider, into a shed, with a rise of 6”?
by|Jun 5, 2021

Answer This Question

A:  I don't see why not unless you weight more than a thousand pounds or so. The documentation says not to ride equipment up the ramp and to roll it by hand instead. That seems good advice if loading on a pickup or utility trailer but a Shed should only be a few inches, right?

by|Jun 6, 2021

A:  Yes. Go slow.

Q:Can this ramp be used just unfolded once at 33.3 inches wide?
by|Oct 2, 2020

Answer This Question

A:  You could use it only having two sections unfolded. The third would be folded. It will make one side a few inches thicker that the other. I'm not sure of stability used this way.

by|Jun 6, 2021

A:  No. You need to unfold it completely.

by|Jun 2, 2021

A:  No.

A:  Thank you for purchasing this CargoSmart ramp. This ramp is designed and intended to be used completely unfolded, so one unfold is not the intended use. It would not function as intended including capacity and stability.

A:  Thank you for purchasing this CargoSmart tri-fold ramp. It depends on the weight of the mower; however, it is not the intended use of the ramp. It is designed for loading ATV's, dirt bikes & outdoor power equipment onto a trailer or vehicle with a short truck bed. If more information is needed, please feel free to contact customer service at info@cargosmartllc.com.

A:  I'm not familiar with that model of John Deere but this could be easily used for getting a riding mower up and down curbs.

Q:The pictures show using the ramp with a trailer can this ramp be used to load a riding law mower on a truck which would be higher than a trailer.

      Answer This Question

A:  No. Transition from ramp to '04 Tundra bed is too much for any riding mower I've had. Tundra bed is 36" off ground. A 21" push mower dragged and required holding front wheels until back wheels cleared ramp.

      by|May 26, 2021

A:  I had no problem using it with my P/U truck. I do not have 4WD nor are my tires really big. My tailgate is 34" off the ground and it worked.

      by|Jun 2, 2021

A:  Yes it can as long as it's not heavier than 1500 lbs.

A:  Maybe you might get a couple times loading in a truck before it bends out of shape. Used mine to get mower in and out of a shed with a height of 16 inches from ground. Slats started bending and breaking out of ramp. Not worth your time

This a strong but compact ramp for loading items into a truck or trailer. The ramp folds into three panels and is secured with straps to prevent it from moving while in use. Also has a cam lock to keep it together while not in use. The treads are great and prevent it from slipping while loading. Rubber tips cushion the connection with the vehicle. The aluminum is super strong but light weight to carry.

CargoSmart 50 in. W x 77 in. L Aluminum Tri-Fold Ramp with Treads, 1500 lb. Capacity - a Home Depot Seeds Program Review I needed a way to load my lawn tractor, which is going to need service soon, on my 4x8 utility trailer. This isn’t one of those landscaper trailers with the flip down back that you can drive your lawn equipment up on so I needed a different option. I’ve looked at some for loading ATV, motorcycles, etc. on to it except from a different, unnamed (cheapo) vendor. The CargoSmart 50 in. W x 77 in. Aluminum Tri-Fold Ramp seemed like a pretty good option and seems far better made. At a weight rating of 1500 pounds I’ll have no problem with my lawn tractor. Fully opened, the ramp is 50 inches wide. That fits across my trailer without a problem. . Since I haven’t tried using the ramp for my tractor yet, I decided to use it for loading my snowblower into the back of my Outback. This may be a far better use! I was able to roll the snowblower up the ramp easily even though it has pretty small wheels. The gaps between the tread are 3 ½ inches. Fat tires would be better but small wheels like the snowblower, lawnmower or tiller work just fine. The ramp has three sections that fold for easy storage. Folded, the ramp is 16 ½ inches wide and 6 ½ feet high. I really like the folding feature since I want to store it in my shed when not in use. There are some locks of sorts on both sides to keep the folded sections together. I thought I would just leave one section folded to load my car but I found that when it was fully open, the third section just hung off to the side outside of the car. I’m not sure how stable having one section folded would be. If you need a loading ramp for your trailer, pickup or SUV, this CargoSmart 50 inch Aluminum Tri-Fold Ramp would be a good choice. It looks and feels strong and it folds down to a very manageable size for storage. The treads aren’t too far part to roll small wheeled equipment up it.

This ramp is made of aluminum so is very lightweight and easily carried by almost any adult. Being aluminum, it won’t rust. The top of each of the sections are closed and the bottoms open so water won’t collect inside the frames. There are no sharp edges that I could find so you don’t need to wear leather gloves to handle it. There are latches on both sides of the ramps which need to be released in order to unfold it. The latches work easily and hold the ramps securely closed when engaged. When you unfold the ramp, pay attention to the slant of the rubber-coated feet and make sure they are pointed downward so the ramp will be in the correct position when you unfold it (it’s awkward to have to flip it if you unfold it incorrectly). The feet have rubber grips on them so they won’t mar your metal and are less likely to slip. The feet are 4.5” long and are 1” wide and there are 2 feet on each section for a total of 6 rubber coated feet. Our ATVs weren’t around at the time we tested this so we had 2 men (both about 250lbs) walk up the ramp and they felt secure; the ramp didn’t bend under their combined weight, nor did it shift. I feel confident it will handle the load it claims. It fits easily in the bed of my short bed pick up. A bonus is that the ramp comes with 2 tie downs each one of which is a total of about 14 feet in length. There is a hook at one end of the tie down and a loop at the other end (the loop is 3.5” and included in my overall measurement). On some tie downs, the clamps are stiff and difficult to open but these work smoothly and easily.

These ramps check all the boxes. They fold up to store is small area, they are light and easy to transport, and they are easy to use. The ramps are exactly the proper width to cover the tailgate, and when you use the two straps to secure the ramp to the hitch on the truck the ramps are rock solid and provide a great system for loading and unload your 4 wheeler in and out of your truck bed. You can see that two cinch straps hook onto the receiver hitch and really pull the ramps down securely and prevent them from slipping. I would not use these ramps without the straps, I think the odds of them slipping off your tailgate would be very high.

The 50 in. W x 77 in. L 1500 lb. Capacity Aluminum Tri-Fold Truck Loading Ramp with Treads (Includes 1 Ramp) by CargoSmart is a decent design. It folds up and latches shut into a reasonably sized piece that we can stand on end in the van and strap it in place. It is just wide enough to make a tight squeeze at the back doors of the van. The tie straps are a very good add-on as you see way too many video's on YouTube where somebody is riding up the ramp and scoots the ramp off of the back of the truck or trailer. Time will tell on how rugged it is, but in our application it should serve us well for many years. Good job guys.

A lightweight yet durable designed loading ramp made by a company called CARGOSMART. The ramp is a compact tri fold unit that is made to store by folding it a third of its size. It measures 50 inches wide by 76 inches long when unfolded. Folded (or stored) condition measures 17 inches wide by 6 inches thick by 76 inches long. It is constructed of welded aluminum extrusions with punched treads. The ramp folds over on top of itself and is secured with a half turn plate that slides over a fastening screw designed to keep the ramp sections clamped together. The ramp includes coated arms that rest on the bed of the trailer or truck for protection and to minimize shifting. Two tie down straps used to secure the ramp from shifting off your truck bed or trailers are included. Ramp capacity is rated at 1500 lbs. or 500 lbs. per section.

This is a pretty nice ramp, maybe a little short for my tastes, but well constructed and thought out. I have an F-150, and as you can see in the pictures the slope is pretty steep. I'm torn because I would prefer a ramp that is slightly longer, but this one fits into the 6.5 foot bed really nice (and a longer one would not travel as well). If you have access to a small hill so you can smooth out the ramp slope this is perfect. It's all aluminum so it's very lightweight to carry and fold. The locking latches were a little tight but after a minor adjustment they work great at keeping it closed during transport. The ramp sits on top of your tailgate on some rubber feet, and has safety straps that you can loop around the tailgate to keep it from sliding. The other thing that I really like is that the hinges alternate (above on one side, under on the other)... this means that if you place too much weight on one side it creates opposing tension on the other side instead of folding under the weight. This is a nice wide ramp and I fell much safer loading my gear with it instead of my old setup of two skinny ramps under the tires.

I have an old pickup truck that I use for a variety of chores. Renting heavy yard equipment at a local business required me to load into truck bed. This is the perfect solution to facilitate loading. Occasionally I load furniture with the help of a dolly this ramp makes that a much simpler task, than trying to lift things into truck bed. Love that it folds for efficient storage when not in use. Very sturdy with many features!

Light, Easy to Use, Good Traction, Well Built. Strong welds and hinges. Locks functional but one gets crushed between two sections when open. Straps are barely sufficient for keeping ramps in place as locking mechanism doesn’t grip enough to prevent strap from sliding, especially when standing on ramp and pulling something up. Coated tabs grip well. Ramp provides great traction for walking. On a 36” (the Installation Instructions- Maximum loading height) high short bed first gen Tundra, a light duty pick-up, the ramp was selected to be used in, the ramp was too steep, the transition angle from ramp to bed way too much, for our two riding mowers, The same with tailgate removed. 21” push mowers dragged. Great for rear tine tiller, soft tire hand truck, not too heavily loaded wheel barrows. Cement mixer took some effort but was able to be loaded and unloaded, much easier than lifting. Ramp just over an inch too long to fit in Tundra bed with tailgate closed, unless ramp angled across bed. Not a big deal as it can be placed up on tailgate when bed is loaded. Am satisfied with the ramp after a few weeks use as it is well built, strong and lightweight. Product overview stating “This ramp is ideal for short truck beds,” and “Great for loading lawn tractors,” is misleading. Ramp design seems good, clean strong looking welds, nice gripping surface. Ramp will suit many tasks, just not riding mowers going in pickups.
