Product Details

The Carlon Zip Box Blue 1-Gang 22 cu. in. Non-Metallic Switch and Outlet Box is designed for use with non-metallic sheathed cable in accordance with Article 314 of the National Electric Code. Great for residential and light commercial applications, the box is made with PVC, is listed for use with masonry walls and can be used with 90 degree C conductors. It meets NEMA OS-2 and is fire rated and UL Listed for safety.

A:  This box would work for a GFI, however it is a nail-on box for "new work". You nail it to the stud before the drywall goes up, then cut a hole in drywall where the box is to install your GFI. If you're adding a GFI to an existing wall you'll want an "old work"/"retrofit" box. You cut a hole in the wall where you want it, the box sits pretty flush with the wall and is secured by screwing the "tabs" to the wall. I attached a screenshot of one option that Home Depot carries. For further assistance, there are YouTube videos available on "How to install an old work box". Hope that helps! (PS: I'm not an expert, just an electrician's wife sharing things that I've learned along the way.)

    A:  Any box will work for a GFI outlet. If you have more than 2 black wires in the box, you might consider a box with a slightly larger volume to make the wiring job easier. Note this box is for new construction, meaning it is nailed directly to a 2x4 stud. If you already have drywall on the all, then opt for an "old work" box instead of a "new work" box.

      A:  This box would work for a GFCI receptcle. Only thing you want to avoid is a shallow box that doesn't have the depth needed for a GFCI.

          A:  That is a large diameter wire. this box has 4 wire entry points. of each wire fills a entry point then the answer would be 4.

            Worked Perfectly for My Project
            I had to splice two wires together. Code says that the splice has to be contained within a junction box for safety considerations. This box was the perfect size and was easy to install. "Knockouts" are included in the box to run the wires through so it was a simple process to enclose the splice.
