A:  Knick, their cutting board shop website says this: "Catskill Craftsmen is located in Stamford, New York, a small rural village nestled in the northern sections of the Catskill Mountains". So, yes, they are located in the Catskills.

      Answer This Question

A:  Yes. The maple comes from mills local to Stamford, NY and none of the wood is wasted. Shavings and trimmings are used to fuel homes in the area.

Arrived very fast, well packed, and in great condition. My cutting board is definitely a mixture of more medium wood tones than the light wood tones in the picture, but still natural, and frankly, it is absolutely gorgeous. There are smoothe handy indents on two sides plus the board is up on feet which all helps to manoeuvre or lift it (it is heavy!). The packaging label tells you to oil immediately upon opening. This is an important initial process. Oil your board before you use it. If you are the curious type, you can search various online helpful cooking, food or even helpful woodworking websites to learn about the oiling process for cutting boards and the various good, better, best types of oils to use, oils to avoid, and even how it can take several initial oilings to properly season your board, depending on how "thirsty" it is.

              Wonderful look and great size!
Beautiful and I love the fact that its feet allow it to be elevated off of my quartz counter top.

So it looked different form the pictures, the wood pieces were actually a lot smaller. The glue in mine seemed to be already be not holding it together like you can see small in the how they were held together, but maybe it was just due to poor storage/age? The board looks good, but sadly I returned it for above reasons .

I received this board about a week ago. The only thing good about it is its good looks. First of all it is very rough, it feels like it should have been sanded to make it smoother. Secondly, when I chop garlic or onion on it, I can't just wipe it off, it the vegetables stick to it. I did season the board with mineral oil before I used it. I have to scrub the stuff off of it. Thirdly, one of the feet came off, I have no idea why. At this price point it should be perfect. I'm leary about ordering another board from Home Depot. Back it is going.

Since not long ago received, started oiling cutting board with two more weeks of same, cannot rate its use yet. I like it aesthetically, very attractive with a good finish. Will write user review once finishing oiling stage.
