Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to hook up, very clear picture I was worried that this system would be to hard to set up but it was so easy. I used an extra HDMI cable I had and ran the recorders HDMI video output to the TV in the den for a monitor. Its awesome to see all 8 cameras up in HD on the screen just by changing inputs on my TV remote. Running the camera cables was as easy as putting up christmas lights and since they carry power and video all I did was plug them in and the video pops in on the screen after a few seconds. I did get up in the attic and run the cables through into the den closet where we keep the recorder but that was the hardest part. I went ahead and put a battery backup in to protect the set up and ran the cord out to an plug next to the closet door. We had a power out last week and when I checked afterwards it kept still recording on all channels. Since the cameras are powered by the one cable from main unit the video never even blipped. This was more expensive than some kits I saw but it has a 7 year warranty and I liked the fact that it set up so easy and the quality seems real good. I also liked that the recorder is really small and has 2 front drawers for the hard drives for video storage. If I want to add more I just pop another hard drive in and don't have to disconnect the whole thing and open the unit up. The picture from the cameras is super clear even at night. I didn't think the little LEDs on the cameras would work as well as they do in the dark. It looks like I have lights on outside through the video but you can't see it if you walk out and look with your eyes. I went on the company's website and downloaded the free software so now I can see the cameras on my laptop and my computer at work too.
