Can it hold hot water?

Can it hold hot water so that we can use it to create a temporary hand washing sink?
Asked by: Lo
Yes, but it is not insulated. I made a neoprene suit for mine to create a hand washing station for the San Diego Bridal Bazaar.

5 Gal. Jug with Water Carrier is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 61.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from spigot is faulty I usually prefer Coleman products, but not the 5 gallon jugs anymore, if they offered replacement parts, I'd buy more, but they don't, and the spigots are the worst, they leak easily if not closed tight, one of them was extremely hard to turn, then froze, the other broke, now both are useless trash, I just hope these jugs can be recycled. Also.. the ring seal is easy to lose, I've had to replace those if anyone else but me refills them, I know they fall off. So I take them off and set them aside, but my kids could care less and end up losing them every time. I'll be looking for better spigots elsewhere.

They are stoutly built and tough, and the square cross-section makes them space-efficient. I have two criticisms: 1) the valve handle is poorly designed and uses a weak flange so that the damned thing almost always breaks of at the most inopportune time, especially in cold weather; 2) the vent cap is held on by a thin strip of plastic that also fatigues quickly and breaks, making it easy to lose the cap. The first problem is fixable by building your own valve unit with a pvc ball valve. The second problem is fixable by buying a carrying a few replacement vent caps, which simply pull out and push in for replacement. But Coleman could do better if it wanted to.

There was nothing wrong with the jug but I returned it right away because I needed it to attach to a special hookup but the hookups didnt match. So I made my own out of a 5 gallon bucket and some peices on the plumming isle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sturdy and convenient I've personally owned one of these for several years and the BSA troop I was in a few years ago had several and all of them held up well. I've seen recent reviews complaining about the spigot being flimsy but I don't think it is. I bought two new ones anyway (assuming I could interchange spigots if needed). The new spigot has a stop that prevents you from turning the handle more than a half-turn which is fine. Just don't force it and the handle should work for a long time. The vent tabs are the same and will still have a tendency to break after a few years. Be careful and they'll last long (but not forever).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very weak faucet assembly I have had the same experience as others with this water carrier. The faucet is so weak that it breaks after a short time. The only way I would own one of these again is to purchase 2 or 3 spare faucet assemblies so you can replace them as they break. Too bad...this would be a nice carrier otherwise.
