Beautiful plywood
Really nice to work with. A few voids in the core but not many. The veneer finished beautifully with walrus oil. Cross cuts were good with a high tooth count blade and slow feed. I used this for a desk and cabinet and now im dreaming up ways to use more of this!

Beautiful plywood to work with
This has been a great product to work with. The veneers are beautiful. I struggled with some chip out when cross cutting, but fixed that with a better finish blade for my circular saw and scoring the veneer first with a marking knofe. The chipping is almost unoticeable after finish. There are relatively few voids in the core, but they do exist. Black superglue was a nice way of filling them to add a design element. This was for a desk where i really wanted to show plywood edging and this worked great. The finish in the photo is 320 grit sanding with walrus oil with a furniture wax on top.

We used the Walnut Europly Plywood for a custom desktop. The color was a bit on the cool side when just applying polyurethane, so we applied Varathan golden oak wood stain to warm it up. We followed it with water-based satin finish polyurethane. It looks beautiful.
I had the piece custom cut, and the cut edge had some splintering/cracking. My husband thought he could do a better job of cutting it. I contacted customer service and sent them a photo. They were happy to help make it right. I requested a replacement just an inch longer than what I originally wanted so that, if the cut was bad again, my husband could cut it himself. It arrived looking much better! Beautiful, affordable plywood and excellent customer service!

I was recently making a small bench protect out of walnut. I ordered one sheet of the cheap purebond walnut plywood and one sheet of the eyroply. The two sheets came in the same box and were indistinguishable. Each containing five 9/64 plys sandwiched between 1/64" veneers. Absolutely not worth the extra money. There is a chance that there was a shipping error and i recieved two of the cheaper sheets, but i called and they were going to ship out the same 5 ply sheet so I cancelled the reorder.

The 3/4 in. x 2 ft. x 4 ft.. europly walnut plywood project panel looks great. I got this panel to make my daughter a cello box to hold her cello in a standing position. The panel was shipped to me. It was packed very, very well. The panel is sanded on both sides with a beautiful walnut veneer. I love working with these panels. They are very flat and well made. I have only cut the panel to rough size pieces I need so far.

The panel was packaged well and no shipping or handling damage was detected. This is by far the finest veneer plyboard I have seen. When finished, the color is rich and the grain is complex. Only minor gaps in the plies, however the edge shows some breakout that was caused by a dull blade. This panel is suitable for fine furniture. Higly recommended if you build fine furniture.
Great piece of wood for any project. Has a great color and great lines in the veneer. There are many layers of ply as opposed to other project panels i have received in the past. Great for making storage cubes or even a table top. Is very sturdy. I would recommend to only stain with a clear coat. I wouldn't go any darker than the actual piece. Edges are sharp and undamaged even with shipping.
The 3/4 in. x 2 ft. x 4 ft. Europly Walnut Plywood Project Panel is a cabinet grade / furniture grade plywood with clean and consistent laminations. This plywood is sanded smooth on the face and has veneer laminated edges that are visually striking due to the uniformity. Each layer of veneer is clear with very few minor voids around the edge. The plywood was adequately packaged and shipped to my doorstep without issue. It is also urea formaldehyde-free.
Quality:
This is TOP QUALITY PLYWOOD. You can tell from the close up photo of the edge that shows consistent and even solid-core plies with no gaps.
I examined the entire perimeter of this 2’ X 4’ board and found no gaps anywhere! THAT is a good sign!
Uses:
I have used this stuff before for many different projects including: custom speaker cabinets, super strong shelving, numerous shop jigs and fixtures, drawers, table tops, small tool cases and one large rolling tool case. Each piece was as good as the last, and in all those cases I found very few gaps. Those gaps that I found were very small and easy to fill. Of course when you edge-band with solid wood, those gaps are a non issue since they are covered.
TIP:
If you use solid edge-banding, then you can skip filling any small gaps you do happen to find. If you use iron-on veneer edge-banding, then it is advisable to fill those small gaps with wood putty. That’s fast and easy. Modern putty dries within ten minutes. Light sanding with 180 is all you need to get a secure glue bond with veneer.
Appearance:
What you can’t see from stock photos is how beautiful this stuff looks when finished! To help you appreciate that, I applied a very quick finish so you can see the difference. By “very quick finish” I mean two coats of shellac, hastily applied with a shop rag in two minutes or less. No sanding. Check the photos… This is just how smooth the boards come from the factory!
Value:
Obviously, we are paying a premium for a premium product AND in this size, a little more for the convenience of these small quarter-sheets.
If lowest price is more important to you, be aware you can buy the same material in WHOLE 4’ X 8’ sheets from Home Depot. That will save you a bit. Plus HD is one of the few Home Centers that will provide TWO FREE cuts on their panel saws. SO… if you absolutely want the best bargain but do not have a large enough vehicle to transport whole sheets, buy the whole sheet and have HD cut it down for you in the store.
If you DO have a pickup truck or van large enough for whole sheets, I recommend a cardboard barrier to protect the delicate edges when you transport them. This stuff is too nice to waste by banging edges unnecessarily.
In my case, I appreciate the convenience of quarter sheets and am happy to pay extra for it. I can carry these smaller sheets down to my basement workshop easily.
Having precut sections saves me TIME; Not just the time of cutting down large sheet goods, but the set up and clean up time too! When I consider the time of getting out my track saws, bringing them and tracks and clamps and extenders up to the garage, setting up saw horses, marking and cutting, then sweeping up and putting everything away again… these become very practical.
Not only that, but in the sweltering heat of summer or bitter cold of winter, I do not have to endure discomfort. I can get right to work on the project instead of spending time in preparations. Less sweat = More FUN!
Also:
They will ship these to you in a well-protected cardboard box with plenty of edge protection. That means you don’t spend time driving. Depending on how far away your Home Depot is you might save money on gas too! From my perspective of convenience and time savings, that is a bargain.
Conclusion:
It’s beautiful, strong, easy-to-finish, high quality plywood no matter how you buy it. Depending on your needs and situation, you can choose convenient quarter sheets or buy whole sheets and move them yourself.
You have to see it finished in person to truly see how nice it is… I hope these photos and suggestions help with your projects!
This plywood is very well made, with a striking modern look when the Europly edge is left exposed.
The piece I received was dead flat, with no warp or bow at all. The corners were a bit smashed though, since I had 3 pieces delivered in the same box. I've ordered one at a time before that arrived with no damage. The manufacturer may want to consider adding corner reinforcements to their shipments with 2+ sheets.
There isn't really a true A and B side to this plywood, as both sides are well finished and come pre-sanded to 180 grit. However, I did notice that the veneer strips on one side were about 8" wide, while on the other they were only 4" wide. All veneer was bookmatched though, which made it a little better for blending the seams.
I really like the Europly edge, which has 13 layers plus the two layers of veneer. I found no voids at all! It looks really sharp with a 1/4" roundover on either side, leaving about 1/4" flat at the center. Do note that this plywood is not a true 3/4" thick either, but still larger than the standard undersized 23/32", which I discovered when cutting dadoes for it. (Thank goodness I always perform test cuts in scrap first!) I ended up using a 11/16" dado stack with 0.045" worth of shims thrown in as well for a total thickness of 0.7325". That left a nice tight fit for the mating piece. Not really a problem when using a dado set, but if you were planning on using a router bit, you might have some trouble.
The only major complaint that I have is that the face veneer is very thin. When I was sanding one of the pieces for my project, I accidentally tilted the 5" random orbital sander a tiny amount, and took off a ton of the veneer, all the way down to the layer beneath it. I was only using 220 grit, and letting the weight of the sander do all the work. It was a thin piece though, and the corner was the part that lost all its veneer. Luckily I managed to hide it on the underside of the project. If the same had happened with the top of my project, I would have had to go buy a whole new sheet.
So overall, this is a really beautiful plywood, it just has thin veneer and needs a little more protection for the corners when shipping. (I didn't factor in the shipping damage when rating the product.) I didn't even stain my project, and just gave it a few coats of poly. It looks great!
