Q:Will it be strong enough for heavy duty shelving unit to support aquarium?

Answer This Question
A:Â Hello,
Yes, the panel will support the weight with proper supports. The middle support will be critical to keep deflection of the panel at a minimum.
by|Nov 18, 2022
A:Â If you brace in the middle of the shelf, it should be ok. You're looking at about 80 to 120 lbs per tank. If you bond an edge trim facing it will strengthen it.
by|Nov 23, 2022
A:Â I wouldn't use the 3/4 ply alone to support a 16 gal aquarium that could weight up to 150 pounds without some kind of support underneath. It could possibly become wet as well which would further deteriorate its stability. You might think about doubling up on the thickness of the shelves to help support the weight, or run an iron pipe underneath the shelf length wise between the leg supports to help support the weight of the aquarium (s) Hope this helps.

Q:Am I able to stain this darker? I dont like how light it is. Thanks!

1 Answer
Answer This Question
A:Â Certainly.
There are many brands and colors of stains available.
Brush on, wipe off.
Just make sure to test the color in a hidden area to ensure you get what you are after.
More coats will make it darker, while less time prior to wiping it off will keep it lighter.
Consistency is key when ya sort out the color.
Good luck and enjoy yourself:)!

Columbia Forest Products can be depended upon for its quality products. As a cabinetmaker, I prefer plywood with a solid core rather than MDF. This 2 foot by 4 foot panel was absolutely level, square and plumb. There were no surface defects, and I didn't need to prep the board before I used it. The panel cut easily and did not "feather." It remained stable through the veneering process. My customer was impressed with the finished tabletop. Kudos also to the Home Depot for offering shipping on these craft size panels. My panel arrived in a reinforced shipping box to protect the panel. No mashed corners! Other competitors do not offer shipping at all. Home Depot's price was also lower than the competition by several dollars. This was an all-around great experience.

I am very happy with the 3/4 x2ft. x4ft. red oak plywood cut to size and sanded to a very smooth surface. It is for a custom desk I'm building for my Sweeties Birthday. .
I ordered 1" x 2" red oak boards for trim to glue around the edge of the red oak plywood. and stained both with a rich finish and several coats of varnish. Edge trim took very little sanding to match up with top.
The desk plans came from Pinterest farm style desk with a few changes of adding drawers instead of cubby's and putting drawers on left side for my left handed Sweetie. This was my first job to build anything like this, I was very pleased the way it turned out.

A fine, high quality piece of ply. That I'm using for drawer fronts. Will definitely order more for other projects, but this arrived with 2 slightly crushed corners. I'm sure it was from shipping. Since I don't need every square inch this time, I'm keeping it. Overall very happy with the quality.

Great Plywood Project Panel
This 3/4in.x 2ft.x4ft. Red Oak Plywood is perfect for most small projects. You can carry this size panel in the back seat or trunk. The "half sheet" panel is ideal for handling. Light weight and easy to carry anywhere. The packaging is such that the panel is well protected for shipping and handling.
The edges are void free making the edges easy to sand and paint or stain.
It’s a water-resistant compilation that tolerates moisture better than formaldehyde-bonded plywood, while the 7-ply layering makes it less likely to warp than solid hardwood. The decorative hardwood panel is assembled with a soy-based PureBond adhesive that won’t emit airborne contaminants over time, as UF-constructed plywood is prone to do.
These panels are available in larger sizes.
Overall, this was a very good quality sheet of plywood. The veener did have one damaged spot (see photo), hence 4 stars. Otherwise it was a very good sheet and was very flat.
Here's a product that comes in just the size you need without having to deal with full sheets, extra expense, and waste. It's easier to transport, and not too heavy.
I received one of the 2x4 panels, Red Oak, in 3/4" thickness. The 3/4" ply was strong enough to be used as shelving and would work fine for any type of sturdy application.
Be sure to use a fine plywood blade in the circular saw to get a nice fine cut, with very little splintering. Edges sanded fine. Veneer is a good thickness.
I did not have a chance to finish mine yet, but it appears that both sides of this sheet are ready for some stain and several coats of Varathane (or equivalent). Good quality grain.
It handled screws with no issues so the quality of the laminates and layers were good (no pockets).
Overall, it got the job done, and looks great to boot!

Cheaper than what's in the store.
Very happy customer. I went to the store to purchase and they didn't have any oak plywood. After finding the oak on Home Depot web site. I noticed it was cheaper than pine or other 3/4 inch plywood's. So I ordered it on line and had it in a few days. About $6.00 cheaper and free shipping.
