Answer This Question
A:Â I would use an electrical cover. Either a blank and drill your own hole or some covers made made for a cable and have a hole in them, two small drywall anchors and screw the cover to the wall.

A:Â Hi
I used a 2" OD Hole Saw in my Drywall. I did use a little clear Silicone to hold the Ring in place.

"Snaps into a 2" dia. hole"
No it doesn't. I have forstner bits and hole saws, but none that are 1 15/16" diameter, which is the outside diameter of the grommet. Had to build the outside diameter up with painters tape to get a snug fit. This was being installed into the back of a media system console, so it had to be snug or it would fall out.
Somebody at HD needs to learn how to use a ruler.

SUMMARY: WORKS AS EXPECTED TO HELP MANAGE CABLES AND CORDS.
BACKGROUND: My computer desk is a spaghetti plate of cords and cables. I got the Commercial Electric Furniture Hole Cover to help organize and route some of them better than they were.
FIT AND FINISH: The cover is in two pieces, both molded in beige ABS plastic.
INSTALLATION: Drilling the 2 in. hole through my vintage GSA oak desk was the most difficult part of the evolution. The cover slipped into the hole easily. I ran 3 power cables through the hole and snapped the cover back in place. DONE!
The opening in the snap-in top cover was large enough for three power cords and could probably hold four cords easily. If you are running more than that you may need to modify the top cover or leave it off. Even with the top cover removed the installation looked much better than a raw hole.
SUMMARY: The cover did exactly what I wanted.
PROS: Looks good

The Commercial Electric 2-inch Furniture Hole Cover in Beige was the simple solution to difficult problem.
Working in a healthcare environment we are not permitted to have exposed wood since it creates an infection control problem. Because it is porous, it cannot be properly cleaned and sterilized. These hole covers allow us to run cords and cables through furniture and conceal the wood beneath the laminate.
Using a standard hole saw in a 2-inch diameter you just cut the hole in the needed location, pop in the cover, and good to go. It really is that easy. It holds firmly in place even while pulling cords through. The cover gives a clean, professional look and eliminates sharp edges that may damage cables.

In its simplest application, keeps a power cord from dropping back through a writing surface (desk, credenza), countertop or workbench hole - or minimizes a visible penetration in the vertical back of a cabinet, bookshelf, desk hutch, entertainment center and similar. If it doesn't accommodate a molded plug, replace that plug with a modular cord end device that can be affixed after routing the cable. Photo 1 shows the cover outside its package. A first step is to separate the pieces and determine whether it fits your application. See photo 2. When boring, I use a Forstner bit to avoid splitting / chipping (hard to do with a wood auger) and to achieve a consistent diameter. [Impossible with a spade bit - and not likely with a hole saw; including most upscale Blu-Mol, Greenlee, Klein, Lennox, Milwaukee, Morse, Starrett, hole saws.] For a furniture grade installation, make a trial cut and compare it with the insertion diameter of the cover (with its retention ribs). See photo 3. Rather than using numerous grommets, one also can route a number of slim cables (such as charging cords, USB cables, low-voltage peripheral and light power, etc.) through this cover after suitably modifying it. The plastic is tough but machinable; so one can enlarge or add open area(s) to the cover to route bundled or multiple conductors.

I used this hole cover in our office multimedia counter. I only had a 2 3/8" hole saw, but it worked fine with the generous lip on this cover. My video gives a 40 second overview of the installation, minus all the sawdust of drilling through a table. The cover fits well, (especially in the correct hole size). I wouldn't recommend over-drilling with anything more than 2 1/4" though - my hole had a little extra rim to it, but still not enough to cause the hole cover to fall through.
The top cover snaps in easily, and provides the finishing touch for a clean installation.

Worked well, this got the job done so I am happy. Great for covering holes to pass wires through. I used this to cover up the wires in the back of a box I was making. I really like that there are 3 sets of points of contact to lock the lid in place. I thought this was a good touch. Once you push down all of the way it will snap into place and you will not have to worry about it coming of. The connection is very snug

Worked as expected. The one thing was it is a little loose when installed in a regular milwaukee 2" holesaw hole. I just wrapped a coupe rounds of duct tape and it was nice and snug. I have used these several times before and they sure make a nice looking job out of running wires.
