Bad quality
Horrible quality. It started peeling the first week. Contacted the crescent customer service and they said it’s normal if exposed to sunlight or impact. Looks horrible having plastic flake off the head. Would not buy again.
possibly the worst tool purchase I have ever made
I went into my local Home Depot as I needed a hammer to complete a project. Among the 16-oz options that were available, this seemed to be the best choice. When trying to put in my first nail I noticed that the nail was not going in straight only to find indentations in the hammer's head. I ended up having to look for my backup hammer which came in a $30 set of tools from another retailer and that hammer worked perfectly with new issues. I am going back to the store for a refund on this item. I do not suggest it in the least.

Durable, nice upgrade, from what I had before. Actually I thought I lost my old hammer so I needed a new one. After purchasing this one I found my old one. But no worries I'm still keeping this one. Keeping it in my new bag!

      Good basic 16oz hammer
This is a nice general purpose hammer that I think is great for light to medium duty work. I have pneumatic nailers and a dozen types of screws for my woodworking projects, so I almost never actually hammer nails by hand anymore. But I do regularly use a hammer for tapping, bending, flattening or occasionally banging uncooperative parts in place, so I do regularly use a hammer, and this Crescent model will work great for me. The head of the hammer appears well made and has a nice gloss protective finish on it. The 16oz weight is perfect for me--it's easy to handle and has enough weight for my relatively light duty uses. The head has an embedded magnet and a slot for holding a nail. The handle has a nice round shape and a comfortable textured rubber grip. Holding this Crescent hammer made me realize that my old cheap hammer has a pretty narrow and flat handle that isn't as comfortable to hold. The one minor criticism of the particular hammer that I received is that the head is not seated fully onto the handle. There is a small gap between the head and the flat shoulder of the handle. (see photo) I don't think it will be an issue for my light duty use, but I'm assuming it's not ideal, and that the hammer would have more integrity if the head were seated all the way down on the handle. I think this is a good all-around hammer for having around the house and DIY projects, and is very reasonably priced.

      Great basic hammer
I wanted to update my toolbox with a new hammer that was versatile but economical. I am very please with this hammer. It has a comfortable balanced feel in my hand and when using it to strike nails. It feels very well built as well and sturdy. It has a magnetic nail holder on the top which helps when trying to start a new nails and leads to less accidental strikes on your fingers. It is a very nice hammer at this price point.

A nice expensive hammer with a great grip
I really like this hammer. I love the grip and it feels balanced to me. I am not a professional carpenter, but I like it. I used it to shingle the roof of my shed and it worked great. The claws pull nails nicely too. The nail holder is a bit of a gimmick in my opinion. If you cannot keep from smacking your hand while holding a nail, how are you ever going to hit the nail in the exact spot you want it to go while it is being held on magnetically. I drew a dot on a board and took some practice shots. Hit it right one time. I will say I was pleasantly surprised how well the hammer held the nails while driving. The really stayed in there nice and there were no issues disengaging the hammer. The nails need to be over two inches in order for the holder to work. I tried some that were two inches exactly and the tip just barely extends past the hammer head.

      Good quality hammer
This is an excellent rip claw finish hammer. It has a smooth face head to protect your material in finish work situations. It has a very strong feel and design to it. The fiberglass hands minimizes vibration to the wrist. The rubber handle is grooved, and gives a good firm grip. The top contains a nail set slot with magnet, for easy nail starting. The slot in the rip claw will allow you to pull fine finish nails with ease. This hammer makes a perfect addition to your finish work tool bags.

Will never think about buying another hammer
Crescent says the products are made for "professionals" and while I am a "serious DIY" user, this is well worth every penny. It is easy to use, produced a better output and is far better quality (i.e. it is in better shape than any other hammer I have ever owned after 10 solid sessions) than other hammers I have every owned
