The right tool
A few weeks prior I was needing to recess a few old finish nails that had backed out in our 1950's home. I realize I didn't have a proper set of punches and rather than grabbing a screwdriver or another nail I just waited for these to arrive. While nothing complex here it sure does make it easy. The conical end fits nicely over the nail head and you get a clean recess each time. They're well made with a nice knurled spot to grip.

Great Punches
This is an awesome set of punches. They are just the right size for most applications. They are also made with great precision and good material making it nearly impossible to break them (I have bent a few others before from different brands). I also like the textured grip near the base, it allows for better control. I definitely recommend these punches.

Well build punches.
These nail sets work well for me. They seem to be made of a good grade of steal. They are nicely labeled with a good contrast, so they are easy to read. The three different sizes cover the range of nails I use. I have not had to use them a lot, but I have used them to set nails in brick molding around a couple of doors. They easily drive the heads beloh the surface, ready for wood putty to hide them. After two doors, there isn't any signs of mushrooming on the heads. I expect them to outlast me.

5 in. Steel Nail Punch Set (3-Piece)
This is a 3-piece steel nail set punch set. They are precision punches made by Crescent and comes with a limited Lifetime Warranty. The set includes 1/32”, 2/32”, and 3/32” punches that are needed for countersinking most finish nails in typical finish carpentry applications. They are handy tools for doing fine carpentry with traditional methods of countersinking and covering nail holes.

Replaced old well used nail sets
I have a set of nail sets that are ancient and I figured I would give these a try. My old ones are 4" while these are 5" long which makes a surprising difference in ease of use for me. They are easier to fish out of my tool pouch and easier to hold. This set has a 1/32" which is smaller than any of my old nail sets and I find it handy on some finish work. I was also surprised to realize my old nail sets had worn down and the new ones have nice new cups in the end which hold to the nails much better.

Quality nail punch set.
This nail punch set covers all the sizes you might need for finish work and larger. There are three sizes of punch in the set ranging from 1/32, 2/32 & 3/32. The 2/32 and 3/32 are hollow on the end to fit over the head of the nail. The punches are fairly heavy and seem to be solidly built. Each one is marked with the size and there is a grip pattern in the side for holding on to it. The end that you hit with the hammer is smooth. After using a flat head hammer to set a few finish nails, I could barely tell that I had hit the set and I hit it fairly hard several times. These seem like quality tools for setting finish nails.

Great Product
5 in. Steel Nail Punch Set (3-Piece) by Crescent Packaging Contents: Three punches First Impressions: Nice Looking Description: The is a set of nail punches of inch sizes 1/32, 2/32 and 3/32. Usage: You're going to like these. Not only because of the lifetime warranty, but because the feel right in the hand. They have some real weight to them, and are made of heavy black oxide carbon steel. The sizes are clearly marked on the sides of each punch. They are non-slip with the knurled grip. Also nice is the hardened top end so that they last long without mushrooming. Get yourself a set. Overall Thoughts: Very good product.

Great simple hand tool(s) - However I'd call it a nail set.
These are made for setting a finish nail head below the trim you are installing. Makes the finished job look good. If you are using a pneumatic type finish nailer or pin nailer you only would use need for nails that did not end up below the surface. I only occasionally have to work with trim (around windows) or 1/4 round molding using simple tools. These help set the heads below the surface without the marring/damaging hammer hits. There are 3 sizes in this set - 1/32 - 1/16 - 3/32 (inches) The punch heads are contoured / cupped to capture and center the nail head. See picture. Hints: Use the smallest one that just holds the nail head to set it just below the surface. Then you and fill it in for the stain or paint finish and it's not visible. This keeps it from slipping and denting the trim. If you are working with hard trim, (I was installing quarter round oak for a floor) I'd suggest that once you have it cut to size, drill angled holes that almost clear the nails through the trim. This prevents splitting and bending the nails.

Simple, rugged, and easy to use
While upgrading my studio shed with windows, I needed to add trim around the outside. The nail gun set most of the nails but didn't sink all of them into the areas where the siding was a bit warped. I picked up this nail punch set from Crescent to fix that issue. The hex pattern cut into the shaft made gripping the punch easier, which was helpful as the day was pretty cold and I had lost some feeling in my fingers by the time I used these. The black oxide coating used to reduce corrosion will keep this set rust-free longer, important in my state's humid environment. And I won't end up with rust on my fingers that will then transfer to the work pieces as I go through projects. Each of the punches is laser etched with the size to eliminate doubt about which one to grab. I found the steel construction durable. The brad nails used in my gun have a squared off head, and the Crescent nail punch was able to set them perfectly despite their shape. The hardened ends of the punches did not deform or dent during use, so I'll have these in my toolbox for a long time.

Crescent Punches, Dad used them and I just added these to his tool box
The Crescent 5 in. Steel Nail Punch Set (3-Piece) is a nice addition to my Dad's old tool box. These punches, sized 1/32, 1/16 and 3/32 are handy for setting various sized nails, staples and even marking an indention for drilling into metal. These punches are as heavy as you would expect in a tool used for taking hammer blows and setting nails. We would recommend these Crescent steel nail punches for your handyman tool box.
