3/8 in. x 50 ft. Double Arm Auto Retracting Air Hose Reel

I wall mounted this reel and it has worked fine so far. The included paper template for the bolt drilling was helpful. Seems to be solidly made.

The retracting lock spring end broke, contacted DeWalt, referred me to another company who makes the hose reel, no individual parts available. So you have a choice, try to find a .50 cent spring or trash the whole thing. Disappointing to say the least...

I have three air hose reals in my shop. Took a chance on Dewalt and have been very disappointed in this particular tool. After I handful of adjustments, the real just cannot be dialed in.

I found this well made hose reel, coming fully assembled, was easy to place into use. I did make a special wooden bracket from which to hang it as my air compressor will be relocated in the nextbg couple of months. My only problem with it was I needed a longer hose than the one provided to connect the reel to the air compressor. I highly recommend this reel to anyone who is looking for a reel with a 50 ft hose included.

Piece of cake to install, drill four holes, insert fasteners, tighten fasteners. attach compressed air. Worked like a champ out of the box. Certainly appears to be built better than the China Freight model in that the rotary union is of better design and will likely last longer than the China Freight equivalent which survived less than two years while only being used once a week. Hopefully I've finally learned there is absolutely nothing at China Freight worth having, unless it is free, but even then it's not worth the head aches.

Best air hose reel I have ever bought.

Dewalt 3/8 inch hose reel: Overall, this is a fine product. Fit and finish are good and the components appear to be of better quality than similar products I've used. However, there are a two areas that need product improvement. These issues can be improved after purchase by the consumer with a few minutes of attention and a few dollars of parts. The most important is that the provided lead-in hose has a very tiny internal opening that severely restricts air flow into the hose reel, air hose and tools. The internal opening at the swivel end of this hose is only 11/64 of an inch in diameter. The other end of this hose and all other center holes that pass the air are slightly larger than 1/4" diameter. This includes the main air hose on the reel and all fittings. This larger 1/4" hole diameter matches my Husky air compressor fittings, other hoses, and air tools. The tiny hole in the swivel fitting dramatically reduces air flow in the system and is a needless waste of tool capacity. My Nitrocat impact wrench would not produce full power with the Dewalt lead-in hose connected. I cut-off the swivel end on the lead-in hose and installed a hose barb which removed the restriction. This allowed full air flow, and my air tools now work normally. See the attached photos for a hole size comparison and my installation. The image shows the tiny center hole of the swivel end of the lead-in hose. For comparison the Dewalt hose on the left has a 3/8" ID and the hose barb I used (right) has an ID of just over 1/4". The second issue is that the reel spring tension needed significant adjustment to provide sufficient tension to fully re-spool the hose. Two full turns of adjustment were needed for proper reel tension, and I may need to add another turn or so since the tension is still a bit weak. I didn't want to over tension the spring, so I left it this way and need to manually push the hose the last few feet. I'll wait a few weeks to see if it loosens during use. Instructions for adjustment are given in the manual which is excellent. This is a good product which would otherwise get a full five stars. Two stars were deducted due to the need to troubleshoot the air restriction and correct this problem and the need to significantly retention the reel. I still recommend the product, but I'm disappointed the product engineers allowed such an oversight with the lead-in hose swivel fitting restrictive internal diameter.

DEWALT 3/8 in. x 50 ft. Double Arm Auto Retracting Air Hose Reel. What can I say? Beautiful bright yellow and built to last, the way I expect a Dewalt tool to be. Because my shop is so small, I decided to mount mine on the ceiling. This will mount to a wall or to the floor or you could mount just about any way/ anywhere you want. Easy pull, locking and retract motion and with the 4 rollers you can even pull from the side of this unit and easily the hose comes out, locks and retracts. So much better than my old (different brand name) frustrating reel that never retracted when I needed it to) 50 feet of yellow air hose included and a 4 foot length to run from the reel to your air compressor is included. If you have a small shop this is the model to buy, the size is just right.

This 3/8 in. x 50 ft. Double Arm Auto Retracting Air Hose Reel by DeWalt is an outstanding product, built in the typical DeWalt way. Made to work, made tough and made to last. This is no wanna-be hose reel. The hose is a nice heavy duty one and grease,oil or solvents is not going to hurt it. The reel has 12 locking points so you can easily pull out the length you need. The spring in the wheel makes hose retraction quick and easy, However, you need to hang onto the hose during the retraction for your own safety and to stop any possible damage to the reel and hose. The hose will not kink and is good up to 300 psi. The reel has a 4-roller hose guide and a leveling system that helps wind the hose up evenly. The hose is still flexible even down to minus40 degrees! Don't know about that one, the hose might be flexible but the air might be froze! :) ) Bottom line is this hose reel and hose is well worth the money.
