How do you put the chalk in it. Take the screws out and fill it that way?

For filling with chalk, you unscrew the yellow cone where the string comes out. Hold the body vertically and carefully pour the chalk into the aluminum body. Do not overfill, only an ounce is needed. Replace the cap when complete.

No instructions on how to use and the wheel on the tool didn't spool out or retract the line unless the screws holding the piece together were loose. Absolutely terrible and broke before my first use. I should of just got a piece of rope and some chalk powder since the tool did not work at all. Get any other model but this one. You get what you pay for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cast Aluminum Chalk Reel Need a blue chalk reel. Already had a red one but need another color. So I look all the one that HD had and choose this one. This one did not come pr-filled so you have to put the chalk in it. I would recommend to pull the string out all the way before filling to make sure that you get all the chalk on all the string. Filled 3/4 of the way with the chalk and put the cap back on. Reel all the string back in and you should have any problem with the string not having chalk on it. I all ways shake my before pulling the string out. Make sure that the chalk is at the bottom and loosen the chalk. Great product.
