How long is the included track? And are additional extension track pieces available?

55 inches, enough to rip a full plywood panel across it's 4-foot side, with room to spare on the track to get a straight start.

Hello, would this track saw work with a 3rd party rail such as the WEN 36050-2P 55-Inch Track(Similar to Grizzly, Shop Fox, etcetera)?
Asked by: De
“But here’s what is attention grabbing: All three plunge-cut saws ride and operate on a Festool guide rail. However, Festool’s saw rides on a Makita track, but not on a DeWalt track. And a DeWalt saw doesn’t work with a Makita track just as a Makita saw is not functional on a DeWalt track.” Popularwoodworking.com

DEWALT FLEXVOLT 60-Volt MAX Lithium-Ion Cordless Brushless 6-1/2 in. Track Saw Kit with Battery 2Ah, Charger, Case and Track is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Precise and well built with great plunge mechanism Out of stock at the time I bought so I purchased elsewhere. The saw cuts like a very powerful corded saw. I've done around 280 linear feet of cutting in ⅝" plywood on one charge of the flexvolt 6ah battery and the battery charges fast at around 40 mins depending on how low it gets before placing on the charger. The stock blade is very good and after cutting about 800 linear feet a cleaning with acetone made it like new. The carbide seems to be holding up really well and I doubt I'll need to have it sharpened any time soon with regular cleanings. Having a double sided track is a very nice feature for quickly lining up cuts and works great. No problems at all but with the 102" track you do have to be careful with the first and last 6" as one of the slide guides will leave the track top rail and there is room for lateral movement from of the saw when that happens. I usually start the cut with more track overhang so that both guides are engaged at the beginning of the cut and then the end of the cut continues in a straight line. On critical full length cuts it's easy to slide the track forward just a bit to keep the tool fully guided through the cut. It's still worth it to have the long track with 2 sides. I've been cutting on a foam board and using my cordless dewalt vac with ok success for dust collection. It leaves some of the chips but not much and does well at removing the finer particles. The vac hose on my DeWalt cordless vac doesn't fit this saw or my DeWalt cordless miter saw which seem to have the same size dust port. An adapter or some 1mm thick O-rings work well enough along with an extension hose. The miter saw dust bag also collects pretty well but is best for outdoor use and just keeping the working surface somewhat clean. I've used some other brands of track saw (also own the cordless Makita) and prefer the plunge action of this saw. This saw plunges the blade into the surface in a way that is less likely to cause any kickback as it plunges in with the most cutting force at the 4:30 or 4:45 o'clock portion of the blade. Other plunge designs pivot the blade into in to the material on an arc from the bottom of the saw handle near the back of the base and if the saw is not pushed forward at the same time can more easily allow cutting force to be placed on the 6:00 or 7:00 position of the blade, causing kickback, if there is not a riving knife or if the riving knife is held in position by spring tension. I like that the slide adjustment sets can be locked to a setting with with a hex tool or with a slot blade screwdriver, that seems to be a good thing rather than an inconvenience. I like that there's a riving knife feature on this tool along with the antikickback feature and the handles are really well executed ergonomically. The blade brake seems really fast and the blade change is easy after doing it once. The depth set adjustments are easy to work with, as accurate as they need to be and the scale accounts for the track. I frequently work with metric measurements so I wish the depth scale had a metric option but that's not a problem. I do wish there were a positive stop on the bevel adjustment at 45 degrees but that's easy enough to get perfect with the saw in blade change position and a framing square. I wish there were more options for 165mm blade selection but the more common 160mm blades work well in the saw and most are the same size kerf. The most important thing is that a replacement blade have a 20mm arbor. The stock blades have a .086" (2mm kerf). The TSTAK case has just enough room for the tool, charger and a spare battery with a little room for a few other things. TSTAK cases are in-expensive and almost as good as sortimo/bosch that I mostly use (I would recommend a III single deep drawer 4" (10cm) deep). I keep a tape measure, track clamps, dust bag, pencils and a few other small things all together in the case that came with he kit without problems. This is a very fine, solid and well designed tool with excellent fit and finish. Made in Czech Republic. I would buy this again, especially having had the opportunity to compare it to the Makita cordless track saw side by side. I love Makita tools but the DeWalt Track saw has more metal parts, seems much more solid, robust, better ergonomics and fells like it has a higher build quality. I hope this review is helpful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from power, precision and run time The saw feels as powerful as a corded saw. I've done around 280 linear feet of cutting in ⅝" plywood on one charge and the battery charges relatively fast. I'm able to use it all day on jobs with a single charge. The stock blade is very good and after cutting about 800 linear feet, a cleaning with acetone made it like new. The carbide seems to be holding up really well and I doubt I'll need to have it sharpened any time soon with regular cleanings. It leaves some chips but not a lot and does well at removing the finer particles. The vac hose on my DeWalt cordless vac doesn't fit this saw or my DeWalt cordless miter saw which have the same size dust port. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Framers Track Saw Many people, when they hear track saw, don't think of a tool used in framing. Many people think of a track saw as being a fine woodworking tool. I would argue it not only works in finish carpentry and cabinetry but also works in rough carpentry as well. The depth adjust knob is about the only weak point of the saw otherwise it is built like a tank. If it is built like a tank can it withstand being used by a framer? Of course it can and then some. It might even speed up cutting sheathing because you don't need to chalk a line and then follow said line. All you gotta do is set the rail on your marks and just let the saw do the rest. Rated 5 out of 5 by from better than a table saw i really enjoy using this saw. it's fast and accurate, and super powerful. i wish this was available when i bought my table saw because i've found this to be easier to get more accurate cuts, the only exception would be large batch cuts. i have 4 tracks; a 102" and two 59". I cut one of the 59s into 35" and 24" sections. the long sections are pretty self-explanatory but i use the 35" track for cutting doors shorter and the 24" track for cutting board stock. i would really appreciate a miter gauge but in the mean time i will build my own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Like most people looking to spend hundreds of dollars on a tool, I did a lot of research before buying a track saw. Many YouTube people hate on the dewalt because of the plunge movement. Let me tell you, give it a try before buying into that. Once you get it down, you will wonder why the other companies don't follow suit. I can't think of a complaint about this saw, and I absolutely love not dealing with the cord. Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sorry to say disapointed I am a custom kitchen and cabinet builder and installer. For many years I have dreamed of purchasing a track saw but I could never justify the cost. You know the OTHER company never cut there price and I just couldn't do it. Then the sky opened and the clouds allowed the sun to shine down on Dewalts new track saw and I had to have it. Once I got off my knees I bought it. I have been a classic Dewalt follower for many many years. You could say I bleed yellow. Tell me that didn't confuse the paramedics. I have purchased drills, saws, compressors, chop saws, clamps and the list goes on and on, that is what makes this so difficult. I have owned two track saws. The first was a corded version I purchased soon after it came on the market. I used it for sheet goods and trimming cabinet sides in hard woods and many more applications. I loved it. Found a second saw and purchased it for a friend and he feels the same way. It truly improved my business. Recently I purchased Dewalts 60volt max 6 1/2 cordless track saw. I was so excited when the big box arrived. Once again a ray of sunlight spot lighted my new saw. Then it began to rain. I'm hoping this was just the one tool that slipped through the quality control section of the plant. I have read many reviews of this tool and listen to other woodworkers rave about its quality and cut. Yes it is very well build and all the systems work perfectly. I did find it took a while to zero the table to 90 degrees and the batteries makes it a little out of balance but I could live with that. It is the cut. I am very disappointed in the cut. I am using this saw in exactly the same applications as my first but receiving no were near the same result. The saw seams to surge and not run smoothly. regardless of a fresh battery or not. The cut is rough and often leaves a burnt cut. both at 90 degrees or at a bevel. Perhaps it is the blade from the factory so I changed it to a new one purchased at the same time. Same result, rough and burnt cuts in most materials. I like the cordless option but this tool just doesn't cut it for me. I have tried a cordless competitors version and I'm afraid I may have to go to the dark side. I could just be a faulty unit but its far to expensive to buy it again and find out. You know the definition of insanity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I was skeptical. I went ahead and upgraded my whole... I was skeptical. I went ahead and upgraded my whole platform to 60v. I do finish carpentry in five million plus houses. Three weeks in I’m very impressed how all these tools perform. Depending on the task I’m getting half a day to full day of battery life.
