Questions & Answers

Q:can I use this blade for generalized rip cuts on a table saw? How about cross cuts on a table saw? I do a lot of Baltic Birch 3/4 and 1/2 inch stock.

Answer This Question

A:  I imagine so since it works so well on my thick laminate floor

by|Jul 8, 2021

A:  It can be used in a pinch for wood that cuts well with 16 tooth blades. It will rip out plywood, however. There are better Diablo blades for your purpose I think.

by|May 10, 2023

A:  Hi Desperado! This blade will have no problem cutting the wood. However, for the best finish quality, you'll want to go with a dedicated wood blade.

by|Oct 12, 2021

A:  Hi Desperado, yes should be great

    Answer This Question

A:  Sure, but I wouldn't cut anything to thin, as with 16 teeth, it will grab real quickly..

A:  Hi Captmullet yes you can use for everyday wood cutting but there are blades much better for that use, why use a costly blade for everyday use? are cheaper blades that will do the job. But its your money

      by|Feb 4, 2020

A:  It can be used for everyday use. I found that it does not give a very clean cut on softer finish products.

Q:Can this blade be used for vinyl plank flooring?

      Answer This Question

A:  I never tried vinyl flooring. But the way it cuts laminate. It's like a hot knife through butter. Diablo blades are THE ONLY blades I use. You really get what you pay for. The good thing about Home Depot that is if it doesn't work, they'll refund your money. I would give it a shot. The only thing I would recommend is, dont cut too slowly. It might melt it. Test one plank and see how it cuts so you will know.. good luck Woodman 123

        A:  With out a doubt..

        by|Mar 10, 2020

A:  I used this blade on Pergo as well as Coretec (friends flooring) and Lifeproof. Cut through everything like butter.

          by|Aug 3, 2019

A:  Hi woodman123, don't think that is the best tool for vinyl plank flooring, always been a razor knife that was used to cut but a laminate flooring works much better, using a saw will heat up the vinyl and not give you nice joints and may even damage the flooring

            Answer This Question

A:  No, this blade is designed for use with wood or laminate flooring. The manufacturer suggests using a Diablo 12in x 84 Tooth Trex blade (Part #D1284CD) or the 12in x 96 Tooth Laminate Blade (Part # D1296L) for CoreLux vinyl plank flooring.

            by|Aug 1, 2019

A:  Hello, Thanks for the great question. A Diablo 12in x 84 Tooth Trex blade Part #D1284CD or the 12in x 96 Tooth Laminate Blade Part #D1296L would be better applications in cutting Corelux. Hope this helps.

Don’t use on bamboo engineered flooring
Took it back after three test cuts using a brand new DeWalt miter saw. Even when going slow on bamboo engineered flooring it rips and jars the fibers from the board. Yes I waited until the motor was at nominal speed. For $99 bucks I expect a clean cut

                    Simply Fantastic!
I’ve had this blade for a while, but I am only now starting my current laminate floor installation, and have a chance to share my opinion. In the past I was using an 84 tooth Diablo 10” blade, and although it provided smooth cuts, it required a lot of downward saw pressure on my chop saw to make the cuts, often resulting in some minor “burn” on the edges of the laminate. I tried this blade for the first time today, and WOW – what a noticeable difference. Yes, it’s a cliché often used by others, but I can think of no better phrase than that it cuts like a hot knife through butter. Because it zips through the laminate so easily, It is tempting to move the saw quickly through the stock, but doing so seems to result in tiny chipping at the edges. Taking a slow pass through the laminate completely avoids chipping, resulting in a finely honed edge (see picture). Can't say how long it will last, since I just started using it, but I love this blade right out of the box! Only wish that I had it before I started my last laminate flooring job. So glad I’ve got it now for the 2000 SF of Pergo XP that I'm putting down now.

                    Super Clean Cuts
I was a little skeptical about a 16-tooth 12" saw blade, but Diablo makes good stuff, so I guess they know what they're doing. Sure enough, this thing cuts through laminate like a hot knife though butter. No tearout or chipping at all, and I was getting the same cut quality at the start of my project as I was a the end of it. I only did one 130 sq. ft. room with an AC-4 rated 8mm laminate, so I can't really testify to the 75x longer cutting life that Diablo claims. However, I certainly didn't notice any degradation in cut quality for the dozens of cuts I made. I even left the blade installed for the prefinished MDF quarter round, and it cut those without destroying the existing paint coat too. One side note: the whole blade is coated in Diablo's red permashield coating. It stays on the whole blade for cut after cut, but the first few will leave red marks on the cut surface as the coating wears off the cutting teeth. Not a big deal though, since no one will ever see the ends of the laminate boards. If you've got a laminate flooring project in your future, this blade is definitely worth picking up!

Best Available Blade for Laminate Flooring
I was in the market for a laminate and hardwood flooring saw blade and decided on the new Diablo 12 Inch Polycrystalline Diamond-Tipped Flooring Blade. The Diablo Laminate Flooring Blade is advertised to last 75 times as long as a carbide-tipped blade. With only 16 teeth, I was skeptical of it’s performance for making fine cuts. However, after using it I have been pleasantly surprised. The Diablo Laminate Flooring Blade provides smooth and precise cuts in all types of laminate and hardwood flooring. It has a non-stick coating to prevent melting plastic from sticking to the blade. The tough aluminum oxide coatings in Pergo Flooring that quickly destroys a carbide-tipped blade are no match for the Diablo Polycrystalline Diamond-Tipped Blade. Although pricey on the front end, the Diablo Laminate Flooring Blade will pay for itself many times over for a flooring contractor that used it every day. For someone working only with hardwoods, a carbide-tipped blade will probably be more cost effective. Highly recommended for contractors working with laminate flooring.

                    Perfect cuts...every time!
I highly recommend this blade. I would say I can't believe how good the blade is, but it's a Diablo blade...and they are ALL great! :) We did 3 rooms of flooring and honestly the blade looks almost brand new still after about 150 or so cuts. The edges that it cut were smooth with no chipping at all. If you wanted I guess you could put painter's tape where you cut to further make sure that it won't chip. Does exactly what it says it will do!
