About This Product

This versatile Defiant Door Bell Chime works in any home installation. For a Wired installation, you'll need a Wired Push Button and a 16 VAC/10 VA Low-Voltage Transformer. To use wirelessly, you'll need 3 "C" batteries and a Defiant Wireless Push Button. Replacing your current basic Door Bell with a new stylish Door Bell is easy.           No button!!!
          Very attractive and works great, but the packaging gave me the impression it included the button. Beware! you will have to buy a button separately. This looks great with the new sconce light we also bought from Home Depot.

            Doorbell Not Working
            I'm unable to get my new HB Doorbell and new SimpliSafe Video Doorbell Pro operate properly. I'm a homeowner able to handle basic installations & electrical repairs but I'm not an electrician or pretend to be one. As per the instructions I installed the HB Doorbell where my old unit was located. Then I replaced the old door push button with the SS video doorbell. The HB Doorbell instructions stated a diode "...must be securely installed on the terminal screws of the FRONT door push button..." The Use and Care Guide goes on to say "The doorbell will not play the entire musical tune and the "TUNE" button will not work if a diode is not installed on the main push button." I then wrapped each of the ends of the diode around each screw on the SS video doorbell mounting plate. I installed the video doorbell cover & pressed the button. No chime or musical tune heard. Using a volt tester, there is electrical current at the SS video doorbell, HB Doorbell base & the 16V transformer. I referred to the HB care guide Troubleshooting section. Tried the solution offered for possible cause being the push button not working properly. When I disconnected the wires and touched the bare wires together, the doorbell didn't sound which would indicate the push button is not defective. The other solution called for disconnecting the "TRANS" wire on the HB Doorbell base & quickly touching the wire to the terminal marked "FRONT." There was no small spark which indicates a problem exists somewhere that I'm unable to identify. I did read one recent HB reviewer stating he installed a NEST video doorbell which is similar to a SimpliSafe video doorbell & initially found the door push didn't work. He then removed the diode and his doorbell works now. I'll try that but in the meantime, I still need assistance.

            Hello,
            We are sorry that you are having this issue with the door chime unit. We would recommend to check how much voltage is at the chime while the button is pressed. This should stay above 16 volts for the chime to sound. With camera push buttons the diode may not be needed depending on how the camera button is built. We would recommend to reach out to that manufacture for clarification on if the diode should be used. If you need any further assistance you can reach technical support at 1-800-858-8501.

              The finish is more of a brownish brushed nickel than a silver color. Also, the speaker is a little muffled. That being said, I absolutely love the different song choices. I have it set to Christmas song right now and it is so festive for us and our guests when they ring the doorbell!!

              We bought this Hampton Bay wireless door bell several months ago. My husband works 6 days a week; so we have been dealing with this problem for a while. The door bell chimes at all hours of the day and night. We have two Blue Heelers and they think someone is at the door each time; barking and growling! This is really nerve racking; especially at 2:00 am!! We paid $45.00 for this pile of junk and now we are stuck with it!!!

                We love this doorbell! We were able to listen to the ringtones online prior to purchase. Description on HD site is accurate. However, installation was a little tricky as the fuse wasn't long enough to be adequately seated under both screws in our brand new Hampton Bay button. It rings but should we encounter any problems we will begin troubleshoot with the button.

                When you install this to a wired doorbell switch, make sure that you label the wires before you disconnect it from your old system. Also If you have an older doorbell you will need to install a diode on each doorbell. I lost one of the diodes. Customer service sent me a new diode, no questions asked. Thanks customer service. Installation was easy and straight forward.
