A:  I asked for dimensions, not wooddescriptions. I want to use tubular steel as rails, not wood.

          Answer This Question

A:  Universal Mobile Base MODEL NUMBER: 50-345 can be designed to fit that band saw. Is not recommended because of the Bandsaw being top heavy or practice safety first.

Q:how does one lift a table saw onto this base? The instruction manual doesn't say.

A:  The 4 corner braces support the 4 legs of the jointer or table saw.

            by|Jun 9, 2020

A:  It was a little tricky, but I tilted the table saw and rolled the base toward it and under it. I slid the saw back on the "shelves" in the back and lifted the front of the saw over the front cross piece of the base and into place. I had to use a few "chocks" to keep the base from rolling during parts of the process. A little struggle, but it worked out. The base is fantastic (I got two of them) and lets me park the tools against a wall and pull them out to work on longer stock.

A:  I put a heavy duty screw eye in my ceiling joist and used a strap and a ratchet hoist. Easy.

A:  1. Buy beverages 2. Invite people over to drink beverages 3. Have the stronger people lift saw 4. Roll base under saw

The Delta 50-345 universal mobile base consist of 4 corner brackets and a pivot bracket holding a foot pedal that lowers one caster when needed to roll. It requires the buyer to supply the framing material, dimension, drill 18 holes and assemble. The instructions are clear with photos. All other parts and hardware are included in the kit. I used white oak hardwood to complete the mobile base.

I was a little concerned with the way the wheel assembly was attached to the 2x2 oak . I real forced it with alum angle and this made all the difference. This product met all of my needs and was the best choice for my project. I hope the picture I posted shows the base well.

The Delta Universal Mobile Base is inexpensive and a valuable asset to any workshop. It was easy to assemble with the instructions given. It took just under 20 minutes to construct and level each base. By adding a 20"x20"x5/8" section of plywood as a center platform, I was able to mount a 13.625" 10-Amp Stationary Band Saw on one base, and an 8-Amp 12-Speed Floor Drill Press on another. Each tool is easily maneuvered wherever I need it, thereby decreasing the time it takes to complete a project and freeing up work space. It was well worth the price and I plan to by more. I recommend you do the same.

Overall I am pleased with this mobile base. Utilizing 1-1/2" square pieces of hardwood for a frame makes it more bulky than other bases I've seen. That is not usually an issue on a table saw or shaper in my case because the top overhangs the base anyway. The greater consideration is the placement of the trip lever. You'll want to place that where you are not kicking it while using the machine. The casters work well and the trip lever lifts the machine high enough so that the rubber feet don't catch on the slightly uneven surface of my shop floor (a problem I have with another mobile base I have). However, with the generous lift of the trip lever comes a down side. You have to keep your foot on the lever as you lower the machine onto the rubber feet otherwise it lets the equipment drop abruptly.

A great product for the price!
I built this stand with simple pressure treated 2 x 4's (sawed in half). It was easy to build and works as advertised. It allows the saw to be easily moved with just a touch of your foot. When you release the front roller, the saw drops onto the base's rubber feet and remains stationary. I have used these Delta mobile bases for my table saw and band saws as well. One is over 15 year's old and still works flawlessly. I recommend this product to anyone with heavy equipment that needs to be moved around to save space.

                Good, solid base.
This Delta Universal Base is solidly constructed and operates well. The size adaptability requires a tad more work in cutting the connecting boards to size but this very feature of custom sizing is great. I cut the wood pieces from heavy duty oak pallet boards and am using this base on a Delta table saw. I added a shelf from my old homemade base and fastened everything down with nuts and bolts. It does what it is supposed to do and I highly recommend it. I shopped around quite a bit and Home Depot had the best price.

                Nice Machine Base
Product parts made well from good quality steel, plus wheels. These are the 4 corners and the step to raise and lower the device. Just add your own wood on the 4 sides to fit your particular machine footprint. Easy enough. It asks for 2 x 2 (actual 1 1/2 x 1 1/2) oak or similar strong wood. A little hard to find. I was able to buy 2 x 1 oak (1 1/2 x 3/4) and just double it up. Buy 2 pieces about 6 or 8 ft and glue them together with some white glue. (You don't need the strength). Cut them to your size after the glue dries. Just be sure to bolt thru the double pieces with the included bolts. When your base is complete just set your tool on top of the metal corners. Probably best with the foot pedal at the rear out of your way when working. Be sure to put the pedal on the short or long side depending on how your machine is sized.

Thought these were pretty cool. Carriage bolts are almost too short though. Recommend getting 2-1/4 - 2-1/2 x 5/16 carriage bolts. I also slipped a 1/4 shim to raise the base on the lifting wheel otherwise the feet would drag when caster was turned 90 degrees. I used these on my jointer and bandsaw, no problems with the weight. 1-1/2” steel square tubing fits perfect and is cheaper than hardwood.
