Q:Can this board be used on an outdoor kitchen wall and then have stone work attached to it with mortar or cement. Or does it need to have a mesh screen attached first? This is for a Florida outdoor kitchen area.

A:  Trust, In dry non-tile and non-wet areas you may install DensShield Tile Backer using fiberglass mesh tape, trowel all purpose or setting type joint compound over the entire panel to produce a smooth surface, then prime and paint.

Absolutely excellent product. Used different types of backer board in the past. Cuts like normal drywall. Not as lightweight as some products but worth the extra struggle. Easy to install.

              Great for bathrooms
Our contractor swears by this product for bathrooms. I got the sheets, he did his magic, after some red guard we will be set. Pretty heavy per sheet, I was surprised at how dense and heavy it is.

Its just drywall with a rough surface. Not lightweight. I should have bought sheetrock and applied a rough surface.
