the Brookings ready to assemble pantry is a nice cabinet that is made of quality materials and is better than most products made in China. i was pleasantly surprised that the sides,back and shelves are real plywood and the front and door frames are maple hard wood, the only pressed wood fiber are the door panels. the finish on the cabinet is good but not great and it went together easily and all the pieces fit together very well, it is not a custom cabinet but it is well above basic put together cabinets. the only complaint i have is the instructions are not clear about some of the assembly steps and they could definitely be improved on. it took me about 3 hours to complete the assembly from start to finish without any help but i would recommend an extra set of hands to make the assembly go faster and easier. i am very satisfied with this product and feel it was a good choice for our needs.

Could it be any cheaper?
Came in a box. Box was in decent shape, but when I opened it pieces were in less than adequate shape. I'm missing the 1st page of the instructions and the pieces are labeled per the instructions. I'd love to return it but I have no way to get it back

The assembly instruction terminology is confusing as is the advertising. There are no "plastic clips." There are metal angles that have a black plastic protective cover. REMOVE THE BLACK PLASTICE COVERS. Then the pre-drilled holes will line up with the all metal angles/"clips" allowing the 2 screws to be inserted.

This was a difficult item to review because I really wanted to like it. When I first unpacked it I was so impressed with the fact the all the pieces were plywood.The finish was superb. The doors were already attached to the front panel. I opened the box of hardware and counted and separated the pieces. I was missing 8 small screws. The instructions listed the panels by letter, but none were marked. Fortunately I have assembled more cabinets than I can count, so I was able to figure it out. The panels are attached to one another by small plastic clips that are screwed into the panels. I could not get the screws to penetrate the plastic, and ruined 2 drill bits trying to make pilot holes for the screws. It was not easy and took forever. After I got the 2 side panels attached to the the front (door) panel, and the interior panels in place, I slid in the back panel as the instructions directed. Now there was no way to screw the clips into the panel, because they were inside the cabinet. I had to carefully flip the cabinet over onto its back, open the doors and screw in the clips from above. After I got the cabinet upright and against the wall I came to the conclusion that it was not nearly as solid as other cabinets. While these plastic clips may seem innovative, they are not nearly strong enough to give the cabinet stability. Hence the 2 star review.

Much nicer cabinet than I expected. I was impressed with the fact that all parts to this tall cabinet are premium 3/8 in plywood and the 5 adjustable shelves are made of 1/2 in plywood. All of the parts are precisely cut better than I could do in my wood shop. Also, the white enamel spray painted pieces are done very well. The front frame with two doors is completed with very good hinges installed and pre-adjusted. Assembly is fairly easy to figure out with the basic line drawings. They say you need: wood glue, mallet, phillips screwdriver. Well, there are a lot of small screws and a few large screws, and I suggest a drill/driver. For glue I used Elmer's Pro Bond which is great stuff and waterproof after it drys, but there are many glues that would work for this job. There are many mortise joints on this project and glue is the primary fastener. A rubber mallet and a few 2-ft grip-clamps came in real handy too. Now, the instructions were lacking somewhat almost like a page was missing. Parts are not numbered with stickers, but the drawings are adequate. This piece of good looking white cabinetry is heavy at over a 100 lbs. and strong enough to fill with canned goods or big bags of bulk goods. You maybe should support the top with a couple of screws into studs to avoid possible tipping over.
