About This Product

The NEW Dustopper is now Faster to set up, has Better suction and is Easier than ever to work with. That's why we've given it a new name: Dustopper PRO. With its improved latches, gasket, stronger body and a high-flow output port, Dustopper PRO has even better separating power than before. Capturing dust before it plugs up your filter is a great way to save money. Dustopper PRO's specially designed chamber fits on a Homer Bucket or most standard 5 Gal. buckets. It collects more than 99% of debris before it reaches your vacuum. This vacuum accessory significantly extends filter life and keeps vacuum suction strong for a much longer time. Dustopper's space-saving low profile design makes it ideal for any job site, workshop or wherever you use it. It is easy to set up and can be ready to use in under a minute straight out of the box with no holes to drill, no screws to tighten and no sealants to apply. Simply remove Dustopper PRO from its box, latch it on a standard 5 Gal. bucket and connect it to your wet/dry vacuum with the hose and 2 sweep elbows provided. Disposal is as easy as unlatching the Dustopper from its bucket and carrying the collected debris away.

Q:Can this Duststopper suck larger debris say 2-3” (vinyl floor and glues) into the bucket without blockage?
by|Feb 2, 2024
2 Answers
Answer This Question

A:  The pick up hose diameter is 2 1/2" so any pieces larger will not pass through. Smaller pieces/chunks will go into the separator and drop into the bucket. If you have additional questions, please feel free to email us at info@dustopper.com.

by|Feb 6, 2024

A:  Great question, and thank you for asking! Generally, if the debris has a chance of clogging in the vacuum’s pickup hose, it will also have a chance of doing the same in the Dustopper. Dustopper can occasionally deal with a small piece of wood or debris, but it is not intended to collect larger debris. We would love to learn more about your need. Please email us at info@dustopper.com. While we may not have a solution now, we may have one in the future based on the need!

Q:I like this; however, I prefer a larger collection "bucket", i.e., like 20 gallons or so. Will this fit a standard trash can?

Q:Can I vacuum vermiculite with this?
        by|Jan 29, 2024
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  Separation of vermiculite should not be a problem. In fact, the vermiculite itself should be quite easy to vacuum up. If there is a percentage of the vermiculite that is powder or residue caused by the manufacturing process, there may be a need to ground the Dustopper for optimal results, AND you should also use HEPA filtration on your vacuum. If you have concerns that other airborn particulate could impose a health risk, you should take additional precautions to protect yourself. Some vacuums have the provision of using HEPA filtration in leiu of the filter supplied with the orignal vacuum purchase. Keep in mind that nearly everything you vacuum up will go into the pail beneath the Dustopper. This alone will greatly extend the workability of the HEPA filtration inside the vacuum. Be sure to read the filter manufacturer's specifications for HEPA performance. Some filter makers may require both a bag filter and a pleated filter inside the vacuum. Wearing a suitable face mask is always recommended. If there is a gap between results and expectations, please feel free to contact us at info@dustopper.com for additional support. Q:Would my 6 gal ryobi 18v wet dry vacuum have enough flow to use with this device?
          by|Jan 28, 2024
          2 Answers
          Answer This Question

A:  From my experience, cyclones used for separating dust from flowing air work best when they have reasonably good air flow. A 5HP powered vacuum will generally produce 140 CFM or more. Battery powered vacuums are typically in the range of 50 CFM.

          by|Jan 30, 2024

A:  We recommend using a vacuum with at least 5 horsepower for optimum efficiency. If you have additional questions, please feel free to email us at info@dustopper.com.

This is a great product and is exactly what is advertised. I like the sleek profile of this cyclone. It’s only about 4” tall. While competitors are 18”+ tall. I am very happy with this product. One pointer is that if your vacuum is old and sucks at sucking this cyclone won’t work. It requires quite a bit of power.

Customer did what it is supposed to do. After vacuuming the shop floor, all the sawdust was in the bucket with virtually none in the shopvac. There was trace amount of very fine dust in it. This is likely the fine airborne dust that will usually get through the air exit since that filter isn't fine enough or it will reduce airflow. A vacuum bag was the answer to this. It traps the fine airborne dust without reducing airflow. All things considered, the product works well. It make dust disposal much easier and less cumbersome as trying to lift a 6 gallon shopvac bottom. The one issue I am still working on is keeping the hose connection from slipping out of the topper when moving around the shop. I'll figure out something.

              Orange Top Dustopper
For the past two years I have used a Dustopper connected to my Shop Vac on a wheeled cart - it works so well in collecting the majority of sawdust and shavings from my surface planer and general vacuuming in my small woodshop. I used to clean my Shop Vac filter once a week – now with the Dustopper, I only clean my filter a couple times a year! The Customer Service at Dustopper is top notch and second to none. The new Dustopper Pro has quite a few improvements over the orange top and I look forward to trying out the latest version soon . . .

                This will save you money!
I have been breaking down plywood for a closet build out. Cutting lots of dado slots and lots of shelves. I was filling my vacuum up with sawdust and stopping the filter up regularly. I hooked this thing up and now I can fill a 5 gallon bucket 3/4 full of saw dust and not have a handful inside the vacuum. I have also been vacuuming up drywall dust, and it gets the majority of that as well. This pic was after filling the 5 gallon bucket, vac was already dirty. I hope this helps!

                  Works Great
Added duststopper to an old shop vac that all the wheels fell off of. I made a cart to mount the shop vac and duststopper to with caster wheels on the bottom. To make the connection between the two I pulled the two swivel ends out of the hose supplied by duststopper. Then I cut 1 of the bell ends off the hose and reinstalled both swivel ends into the bell piece on either side. It worked out great and got rid of all the excess hose. The only negative is the plastic looks a little flimsy.

Duststopper pro does exactly what I need
So I have had owned the classic duststopper and now own the improved pro model. This is my go to instead of my Festool Oneida setup. It's cheaper to run and easier for site use. We use it for sanding hardwood flooring and it has made our work 95% dust free.

Why didn't I see this sooner!
As other's have mentioned, the gasket and seal is a little cheap. This thing works best if you set it in place and don't have to move it all around. The best thing about it is truly very little makes its way into the shop vac that is attached, so your filters on that will stay like new for so much longer. I have a huge project going on vacuuming up styrofoam dust and this thing does its job! Its amazing how much dust ends up in the bucket and not in the vacuum. I would buy this again for sure!

If you have a shop vac!
Y’all, I am 1000% serious when I say you NEED this! I have the regular Dust Stopper (DS), and it rocks. Most of my work is in reno and in inhabited spaces, so yeah dust is huge for me. The DS is everything it says it is! When you grind concrete in a living space, your changing filters a lot, not with the DS! Add 1” of H2O in the bottom of both vac (w/ HEPA) and bucket..baby your golden! Pipe exhaust out a window for 0% dust. 100% Filter saver!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
