What does turbo salvage mean?

Asked by Aboots February 21, 2020

I stay on an army base and was tired of the lawn service just using the string trimmer to edge, so I got this little unit to clean up the walk ways . It does the job.

What country is this manufactured in?

Asked by Stryker February 9, 2020

I don't know, but this is the only lower-priced edger on the market that works great. I tried every electric one--all are worthless. I can't afford a hi-priced gas one. This one is light, powerful, and does our big corner lot sidewalks and curbs great quickly. And I'm 73 yrs of age!

avoid this edger
I bought this in 2018. I should have written this review then. As others have said, the edger does appear somewhat under-powered for the price, but that is not my main complaint. My main complaint is that the front grip on the unit is defective. It has been defective since I bought it, and I should have returned it, but figured it would be an easy fix. As it turns out, Echo hasn't come out with a fix yet, over 2 years later. From day one, the front grip has been loose. If you tighten the grip, the plastic will crack, and there is no fix, other than putting on yet another defective replacement grip. I have a Husqvarna with interchangeable tools and I don't have this issue. If Echo doesn't fix this problem, I probably won't be buying any more of their products. The one good thing I will say about the unit is that you can run it at full wide-open and it doesn't not overheat. However, you can't use the unit without the front grip rotating on you. For the record, I store this in my closed garage and I use it only for my personal residence (not commercial). I've posted a picture of the crack (each bolt has a crack in the plastic next to it).

The Echo gas stick edger is easy to start, easy to store, easy to adjust, and best of all cuts my edging time in half. I've used both a gas weed-eater and electric edger for edging pavement. Both methods work, but they require more effort and one requires that you drag an electric cord all around the property. The gas edger is more powerful, requires less effort to use and control, and consistently provides a nice clean perfect edge. I have an Echo gas weed eater that's great at edging around the fence, house, trees, etc... I don't like using a weed eater for edging the sidewalks, curbs, and driveways because of the inconsistent edge it can create when the string grabs the grass.

Echo makes great gas powered lawn equipment, this particular edger is great for me caring for my own lawn. I also own the back pack blower that has great power always starts after the off season. Its best to use the premixed fuel that they sell on the shelf. It works great no worries of ethanol damaging these small carbs, you dont have to guess if you mixing it right and its has higher octane than you get at a pump.

The edger will work well for cleaning out old edges and maintenance. This edger lacks power for starting new ones. The string trimmers that swivel do a prettier job with the grass, but this edger is easier to use

A great edger!
I wanted an edger but not one of the big ones that take up a lot of space in my shop. Shop space is valuable to me. I already own a Echo string trimmer and it is a wonderful product as well, so I knew which brand I wanted. This edger does a great job of edging, it's starts easy, has plenty of power and I noticed that the blade doesn't start turning until the engine is entering the power band in rpm, almost like a stall converter, very nice feature. Oh yeah, I'm retired now, but I've been an equipment mechanic all of my life and I know quality when I see it. I said shop space is important, so i've included a picture of my latest project, my bird house.

The Echo edger made landscaping our yard a breeze!
My husband used the edger to clean up the overgrown grass along our sidewalks and driveway. He also used it to make a "trench" to install landscape edging for all our flower beds surrounding our house, which made it go much more easily and quickly. The edger is great quality, very sturdy, and starts very easily! We also have an Echo trimmer.

Really Works
I already own an ECHO gas trimmer and thought I would give the edger a try. It is great! It has really cut down on my work as far as edging goes. Some people complained about not enough power but I have had no problem with that. It does the job. Wish I had bought one a yr ago.

All Good - Very Good
I've used this two times and it performs awesomely. I had some tough areas to correct and this edger did a great job. I'm very satisfied with this edger. By the way, did not buy this on a whim - I considered higher power electric edgers, and different style edger before settling on this - I think at this time it was a great choice.
