Questions & Answers

Gas to use

We had an issue with using regular unleaded gas in our lawn mower. Is there specific gas that should be used with this blower?
Asked by: Amy
I recommend you to use racing fuel, with no alcohol. It could look more expensive, but you will not have carburetor/engine/starting problems in the long run. It’s very frustrating when you can’t start your blower at next season because the fuel ruined your machine. Since I began to do it, I had no more problems with small engines, e.g, snowblower, leaf blowers, loan mower....

Better on the tube. Much more convenient.

Asked by: Bubba
Yes it will move muddy, and even wet leaves. Leaves buried in grass, not as easy but eventually they will move.

Can you start it on your back?

I have a echo 755 that once it is warm I can reach around and pull the start rope. It's not easy but it can be done

No you can not.

Oh boy, you get this thing out of the box and set it up and i tell you what, it runs real good. Now 36 days later after daily use the throttle will get stuck wide open. After that is fixed it will make it a solid 3 more days before it completely locks up. Take it back to home depot and really have to fight their 30 day policy. After receiving new blower be happy for all of 6 days because thats all your gonna get out of it. After pulling the carb apart every few days for a month the newer one will also lock up. This time when you take it back they will refuse to exchange or let you to get a better brand and only offer to have the guys at the tool desk look at. After explaining i don't want it fixed again i want a new one with no luck i proceeded to take it home and leave it out for free at the end of the driveway. Moral of the story if you are going to buy this blower please don't waist your time assembling it, just walk to the back of home depot and use their dumpsters for it. i have 5 different blowers that all run 365 days a year ranging from 3 to 6 years old with no issues. Will not even attempt another echo blower

I was attempting to assemble this product and was unsure about the placement of what was called the "anti-static" wire. The whole concept of needing an "anti-static" wire was unfamiliar to me, so I went to YouTube. There I found numerous videos of guys offering suggestions as to how to not get electrically shocked using this blower. One guy taped broken paint stirrers around the handle in an effort to insulate himself from shocks. Another suggested buying rubber gloves. The kicker for me was the last video I watched, in which the guy, with the Echo in the background, began discussing this same problem of getting shocked. Then he offered a solution to the problem. He went off camera and brought in a Stihl blower, commenting that this was, in his opinion, the best solution to avoid getting shocked by the Echo machine. I have never even used my Echo, and even though I bought it in November I am hoping Home Depot will allow me to return it in May inasmuch as there has never even been any gasoline in it. We will see. My recommendation is to watch all these YouTube videos and decide for yourself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A mini tornado in a backpack I bought this to replace my old Homelite backpacker. The homelite wasn't very powerful to begin with, but this Echo is twice as powerful. It blows just about anything with considerable power including wet leaves. The air leaving the pipe sends debris flying just like a twister would. It is very easy to start up and it is quiet. It also has a large fuel tank for longer run times. Also, it is very comfortable to wear. I am 6'1, 240 lbs with very broad shoulders and I can get the unit on my back no problem. It has a ventilated back that blows air on you to keep you cool. It is a pain to assemble at first, but be patient and follow the instructions. As with other Echo products, use mid-grade or higher gasoline with oil mixed to 50:1. Echo powerfuel works really well with this unit and I recommend using it for the first few times to help break it in. After that, use whatever. In conclusion, this is definitely the entry level blower for commercial use. A fantastic blower with plenty of power and practicality.

You arrive at the spot: but you can’t put it down because you don’t want to share your goodies so you go off into an isolated or the most remote areas of the park just so you can have it all to yourself and you stay long after everyone is gone and returning home to realize That not once did you stop your hike to remove obstacles from the path as my Echo 215 MPH 510 CMF:58.2 cc kept the path clear long before I arrived at the back door only to be reminded: “ honey it’s nice that you left your shoes at the door but that also applies to the knapsack on your back.” That’s the only problem with this tool, as you never want to put it down.

Our 3-1/2 acre yard is totally wooded and I have fought tons of oak leaves for years. I wore out numerous rakes and a couple of small hand-held homeowner leaf blowers before deciding to purchase this Echo PB-580T. The difference is like daylight and dark. This blower will lift and roll a deep bed of leaves like a fire hose of air. I've been able to clean out flowerbeds and other neglected areas that contained layers of wet matted leaves that a rake would only scratch the surface. I have been amazed by the performance and the efficiency. The blower is well made, it cranks easily, it's fuel efficient, and it runs slower than the small high RPM homeowner blowers that I have previously used. The slower speed results in it being quieter. My only regret is not buying one of these sooner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great blower I purchased this blower for my first backpack blower and I don't have one complaint, ( except the directions for routing the anti-static wire) which was not a big deal. I bought this and my friend I work with bought the stihl counterpart, both great blowers you won't go wrong buying either of them, they both seem equal with power and both start in two pulls every time. There is one small difference I did notice, the echo is better on gas. My friend was filling for his third time when I just filled for my second using the same gas and both were full when we started. This is really a good blower and I'm very happy with it.

The power is enough to effectively move leaves (and even pine needles), even if somewhat wet. (I would not recommend buying a blower that had any less power than this model.) That said, I was disappointed to see that the current version of this product includes an "anti-static" wire that apparently was added at some point to address an issue related to users getting shocked through the handle while they were using the product. The "fix" is not at all elegant, and I have seen reports online that it has not worked in some instances. I have not experienced getting shocked yet, and hopefully won't. But I am unimpressed with the design of the "retrofit" solution - a bare cable that ultimately must be put into the blower tubing (at a joint) and sits freely in side. Since I haven't been shocked yet (although I've only used the blower once), I will still recommend the product, but I did give it an "average" rating because of the shocking issue and the clumsy design fix to address it. Echo's competitors, to my knowledge, don't have this issue.
