I had been using Band-it edging and needed more. I purchased the Edgemate edging because it was what Home Depot had. This stuff was terrible to work with. It has numerous splices, it came in 2 sections taped together which was a waste. The glue does not hold as well as Band-it brand and it is thinner and more brittle. I was using a trimmer and had so many problems trimming. I had to do 1 piece 3 times. I will not be purchasing this again.

Thank you for your feedback. From time to time, there are defects in the material that need to be cut out of the roll. The roll is then taped back together, which is why there may be a splice. We can assure you that the raw material is purchased from similar vendor's as the other company mentioned, so there should not be a difference between the wood or adhesive. If you can contact our office directly, we would be happy to send you replacement material at no cost. Edgemate

This was my first time using edge banding. This product worked really well. I used it on 3/4" oak veneer plywood (edges sanded flat and straight). Applying it was easy with the iron on the cotton setting (steam off). I followed the directions that come with the banding and ran a wood block back and forth along the banding pressing down while the banding and glue cooled. I did not purchase any sort of trimmer to removes the banding overhangs. I used a cabinet scraper to remove the overhangs along the edges which worked great and produced absolutely seamless joints. I used a utility knife to trim the end overhangs to about 1/16" and then sanded them flush with sandpaper on a block. My local Home Depot only carried the birch banding but I noticed that there was significant variation in the color of the banding between packages. I took advantage of that to pick a pack that matched the color of the oak veneer plywood nicely.

Excellent easy to install product. Applies fast but take enough time that it does not slip around on you while the glue is hot. Takes stain well.

This is an awesome product to transform your sad looking ply wood shelves to something clean and modern! The installation was super simple. 1. Cut the tape to required length. 2. With Iron at Cotton setting and move over the tape slowly. 3. Move back and forth till the tape is set in place.

            Birch Veneer Banding
Been using this edge banding for years to cover plywood edges, particularly when making drawer bodies. It works well, paints well, sands well, and is very easy to use. If cut well, it blends flawlessly with birch and maple plywoods (when stained, unfinished, or painted). It's been very durable and has held up well. When applying, cut extra as it does tend to shrink some with heat. If you cut the exact measurement of the opening, then it will end up being short by 1/16". I cut long and then trim the excess off with a knife or chisel. This cuts well with razor blades, sharp chisels, or sharp router bits. Dulled blades with cause tearout. The edge sands easily, so I get close to flush with a blade and then get the rest with a light sanding (by hand or random orbital)

The color didn’t match my cabinets so I returned it. Colors offered are too similar, you need a slightly darker version

This went on very easily and really changed the look of the cabinet I am making. I always steered away from this and just dealt with the ugly edges of the plywood, but I'm thinking this is going to go on all my projects...even just my workbench. It really completes the look. It applied well, it stayed applied, it sanded well, and you can't even tell the edge transition between the surface and the edge once sanded. I haven't stained it though, so I can't speak to that, but it looks great under a good enamel paint (Sherwin Williams Emerald).
