Received this 24” Empire Level today and the first thing I noticed was the precision milled edges...
Received this 24” Empire Level today and the first thing I noticed was the precision milled edges. Supposed to be within .0005”. I also really like the way the bubbles are completely sealed in plastic so there is no worry of becoming loose and easy to clean. Bubble on top of level can be viewed from 300 degrees. Level is machined from boxed aluminum tubing. Level has loops on both ends for hanging. Limited Lifetime warrantee, Made in China. Very nice level.

Finally a precision crafted product. Level is machine finished and workmanship is excellent. The bubbles on each end are enclosed in large 360 degree viewer which aids in lining up your marks to insure what you are measuring is level. The built in handles are great for handling as well as hanging/storing the level. Each end of the level has a durable hard plastic endcap to prevent damage. This machined level is heavy duty and should last a lifetime.

The Empire #650-48 aluminum 48 inch level has several features I really like. It's lightweight, yet strong. It has precision milled edges so it doesn't slip or slide off the surface you're leveling like some levels do that have a slick painted surface. It has a 300 degree high visibility view so it's easy to see the bubble, even at awkward angles. It has two handle grips and comes with a limited lifetime warranty. It is a good level for the professional or home builder/remodeler.

I have owned many levels over the years, from steel framed to plastic. One had a built-in light, which was great, except the battery always went dead when I grabbed that level - and who carries tiny batteries.
This level is one of the best I've owned. It's big 6-foot, so you're not going to use this to level a picture on the wall. I'm amazed by its light weight (probably one of the lightest I've owned), especially for its length. Happy with its construction, aluminum for a good edge but a (blue) composite for the sides. All my other levels are an open construction, so you can grab them anywhere; this one has two grab holes. At first I thought that wouldn't work for me, but as I used the level I just seemed to grab it where the holes were.
The best part of this level are the high visibility "bubbles", where you look to determine whether the work out of level. Using this level at dusk (when the light was fading) I was pleasantly surprised to be able to see the gauge with great clarity.
For what it's worth, mine was delivered. The cardboard shipping box is perfect way to store the level.

Six feet of leveled surface
I was installing doors using a four foot level, and it just didn't seem to be going as well as I wanted it to. I threw down my tools, hopped in my truck, headed to Home Depot, and picked up this bad boy. Guess what? This level verified that I did just fine with my four foot level. However, it made the next couple of doors easier to install, and now I have a six foot level added to my tool collection.
The level is really nice. It's very strong while being light weight. I tend to like I-Beam levels more, but my local Home Depot didn't have any in-store. But it's not this level's fault; it didn't choose to be born a box level, and it does the job just as well.
