Q:Difficulty Getting the Log to Start? I read reviews people say these logs are easy to start and start right up. However, we are now burning the second log and both have been hard to get started, the second one more so. What is the trick? Once it truly gets started it burns well.

A:  We have had a couple of times when the log was hard to start. In those situations the logs were on a covered deck before we tried to start them. My guess is that it may have absorbed some moisture, retarding getting the log to start.

A:  I have same problem. Looking to a better product. Don't buy this.

          by|Feb 13, 2021

A:  Thanks everyone. One of the 6 logs in the first box was next to impossible to light. The others have been better, mostly as I have put another on while I still have hot coals. We are in the midst of snow and ice. The box had not been outside, came from inside store to inside of the house. I have tried ripping and not ripping paper, doesn't seem to matter. They leave an incredible amount of ash to clean up. Good price and they do burn long, But the mess is way too much. I won't be buying them again.

A:  I?ve had zero problems lighting these with a single match. I just hold the match to the packaging as instructed. The wrapper of the log is the fire starter. Never a problem even in rain. Logs are waxed cardboard and the wrapper seems to be waxed paper.

              by|Oct 23, 2022

A:  We used these many times. I found that the best way to get them going was to rip the paper open but leave it on the log. Also elevate the log so that is not lying flat on the floor of the stove or fireplace. Just putting a small stick under it is enough. Works every time.

                  THE BEST Fire Starter!
Try this... Break a log into small pieces and use them to start real wood logs. 1 Enviro-Log lasts a full winter here in Portland, OR. That's 6 Winters per box. 5 Stars!

                    Fall Fires!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So cool to bring these Enviro-Log 4.3 lb. 6 piece to my son’s home for roasting marshmallows after BBQing this past summer and fall.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love this little log starters because they really help start the fire increase without adding soo much wood or other stuff. Something soo convenient to bring to a camping trip and soo helpful.

                        A wet log is better
These fire logs are terrible. After 40 minutes (see image), it barely produces heat and just lingers in a few spots. In order to get any type of true looking fireplace fire we have to add wood. Not to mention after awhile the flame goes away and there is still a lot of the "log" left to burn. Cheap low price reflects the quality of the product. I'm going back to Dura Flames.

                        Response from Enviro-Log Product ExpertDec 28, 2022
Hello Matthew. Enviro-Log Firelogs burn like firewood and the wrapper acts like kindling to help get the firelog burning. Simply loosen the wrapper around the firelog to ensure proper airflow, tear open the seam, and light the wrapper at both ends. You can also add another Enviro-Log Firelog for a bigger and warmer fire. Also make sure your firelogs are stored in a warm, dry place. Do not attempt to burn a wet or frozen firelog. Unlike like other firelog brands, Enviro-Log Firelogs are safe to cook over. EnviroLog2015

                          Review for Enviro-Log
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I loved using this product. The Enviro-Log is great for cooking, heating, camping and alot of occasions. It is made from 100% recycled wax cardboard. It says it burns up to 3 hours but mine burned almost 4 hours.

                            FIRE WITHOUT HEAT
We put two logs in and have waited half an hour and the temperature is barely above 225 degrees. Our heat-powered fan isn't even turning. I threw a Kleenex in the back and it still hasn't caught fire even though it's touching the middle of the back log (but not directly touching the fire). Added 2 more logs 2 hours later. The temperature is only reading 300 degrees. I can get wood at the gas station for $3 which burns hotter and longer than this crud.

                              natural fire log
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] i love that these fire logs are made from completely natural materials, recycled wax and cardboard. I really like the idea of not adding to the landfill and having a completely sustainably sourced fire log that we burn and its gone. It ignites easily and burns for three hours. its perfect for our indoor and outdoor fireplaces. it also burns with less creosote and carbon dioxide so i like that it has less emissions for my family to breathe. This has been a perfect solution to having a fast and cosy fire with no mess whatsoever!

                                Lasting
Love how well the logs are easily able to lite up. What I like even more so that you don't smell or burn all those harsh chemicals. Instead it's recycled paper that's what helps burn & I love that! It's not just any cheaply made fire log, great quality. My local hardware store had some on sale where I was able to go stock up! Can't get enough on these earth friendly burning logs to keep us warm.

Absolutely horrible. Won't burn. Finally figured out
Congratulations. I am 64 years old and this is the absolutely worst product that I've ever purchased (in any category). Absolutely horrible. Won't burn. Practically fire resistant. Worse than that Triumph sports car in high school. Worse than Schaeffer beer. I finally figured out how to burn one by placing it on top of a Duraflame. Although this works, I am going to dumpster the remaining 3 because it probably isn't very safe to do this and it destroys the beauty of a Duraflame fire. At least it gave me some good laughs.

                                    Disappointed
We tried these and were hugely disappointed, especially compared to other brands like duraflame. The logs barely burned. To advertise they produce more heat than wood is laughable at best. And the amount of ash left over is tremendous. Our suggestion is to stay away and buy a different brand. We will!
