A:Â Kathy, we do have submersible pumps that a garden hose can attach to. They would be one of our utility pumps. Two models I would look at would be the SUP80 or EBAU33. Horrible Float
The most important part of the pump has a major fault. Float easily pops out if the slot and is so loose that it often goes sideways and does not even activate the pump. Who designed this should be stripped of his engineering title. During this downpours i have to constantly check on the pump to make sure it does not get stack. it gets stack every hour... Horrible design. Dont buy anything that has a float that is not permanently attached to the pump. Returning it

Seems OK after a lot of time spent figuring why the float rod wasn't attached.
While in the end the pump saved me from a decent rain storm, unfortunately, I like others on these reviews had a float rod that was not attached to the switch bracket when I opened it two days ago. The float rod would just fall out unless the bottom end of it was on the ground. I called customer service and while they tried to be helpful the only solution seemed to be a return. After a considerable amount of time messing with it in the rain, I finally investigated the empty box (which BTW was "not damaged in shipping" per some responses to reviews) and there was this tiny tiny broken plastic pin only about 2mm thick and maybe 15mm long that had snapped (see picture). It was apparently designed to keep the float rod in its slot. I replaced it with a small nail that I bent into a "U" to keep it in place and the unit seems to be working as promised. And if the pin breaks for you, I learned the top end of the float rod can fit in the switch in two ways, but only one will give a click when the pump switch is activated. For a unit that has a sturdy metal casing, big thick wiring and weighs several pounds, to have this tiny plastic pin holding the float in place is crazy. Poor design and hopefully not indicative of the quality of the rest of the unit. Fingers crossed.

This submersible pump should be installed by a qualified professional who is knowledgable about what these pumps are designed to do and the specs regarding each pump. Each one is different.
First, the electrical cord is 10' long and needs to be close to an GFCI outlet rated for the amps. The basin needs to be 10" in diameter however, 14" is better to allow you to work with the pump.
This pump is pretty light weight at under 10 lbs. I found it very easy to handle. The float is adjustible for the amount of water in the basin for shut off. Has a pretty decent pump action and the discharge does a good job filtering debris.
Instructions are excellent and give detailed diagrams for installation parameters.

Decent light duty sump pump for residential use.It says the pump is an aluminum pump but in reality the motor housing is aluminum and pretty much the rest of the pump and switch is plastic. The vertical switch is a magnetic trip which is fine however it seems very light duty. The minimum sump size for this model pump is 10" in diameter and 14" depth. Installation for this unit is pretty simple and straight forward. It comes with the housing threaded for 1 1/2" pipe but it also has a reducer for a 1 1/4" outlet pipe. I just think the pump is a little on the light duty side for every day use but it would be great for emergency use.

Happy to give this Sump Pump the seal of approval. Well designed and pumps up to 36 gallons per minute. Very powerful with it's 1/3 HP motor. The aluminum housing is also a plus, in that the unit cannot over heat. The instructions are quite clear in that you need to install it in a basin that is at least 10 inches wide, and 14 or more inches deep. One year warranty on the entire unit is an added feature. Highly recommended to all Home Depot shoppers in the market for a very well designed, and well made Sump Pump. Kudos to EVERBILT for a quality product.

The 1/4 HP Aluminum Sump Pump with Vertical Switch by Everbilt is an excellent product with many nice features. The 1/4 HP pump is a great value and the right size for a low need pumping situation, but can handle rainy season needs. The aluminum housing of the pump motor means better cooling and will last a very long time. The vertical switch works well in smaller basins since it won't bind up on the basin wall like a tethered float switch. The 1/4 HP pump is very strong and Pumps up to 2000 GPH at 10 ft. It comes with a 1 year limited warranty.

The Everbilt 1/3hp. aluminum sump pump with vertical switch is a great little sump pump. The pump is built with an aluminum motor housing for efficient motor cooling. It has a 8.25 ft electrical cord. I have 2 sump pumps in my basement now and this pump will be used for a backup. This pump pumps up to 2200 GPH at10ft. height. It uses the standard 1-1/2in. FNPT discharge. The switch off height is 1-3/8in. and the switch on height is 4.72in. Very nice sump pump.

The 1/4 HP Aluminum Sump Pump with Vertical Switch is a well designed, well built and efficient sump pump. I ordered this product as replacement for an existing basement sump pump.
It's sturdy construction and ease of use makes it one of the best I have ever come across.
All connections, electrical and mechanical are properly sealed. The grounded power cable is of sufficient length and is secured to the body of the pump to prevent damage due to turbulence when the pump is running. Also the cable from the switch is secured to the pump's body. A very good set of instructions makes installation and maintenance an easy task.
I tested the sump pump as shown in the photos. The performance was amazing, response from the vertical switch was instant, no vibration, practicable noiseless and it emptied that bucket in a few seconds.
I like it and recommend it.
