Thank you for your question. The switch comes pre-attached to the pump in the optimal operation range. There is nothing that you need to do to.

Q:The tethered float has seams on the side of the float. Should the seams be positioned horizontally (I.e laying flat at water level) or vertically (I,e, one seam under water and the other above water)?

Answer This Question
A: Af45,
The position of the seams on the float do not matter to the operation of the float / pump.

Q:The float on my pump will rise to the top, however it will not trigger the pump. The water will rise above the float. If I tap the float up the pump turn on and runs. Why might the float not be lifting with enough pressure to trigger the pump?

Answer This Question
A: Af45,
Thank you for your question. What size of basin are you using? Is the water backing up into pipe? You can shorten the tether on the float switch to make it operate at a lower water level. Please contact us and we can help you through this process.

Q:can sump pumps be used to pump waste from a toilet?
by|Aug 3, 2022
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Bill, thank you for your question. Even though they appear to be similar, sump pumps are not designed to pump waste. They can only handle up to 3/8" solids where a sewage pump is designed to handle up to 2" solids. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact our customer service at 844-883-1872. Does Not turn-on Automatically
Purchase this pump on January 4th. After installation, the first flooding of the crawl space was in mid-January. The pump did not turn-on automatically. No problem maybe the tethered (float) switch has to be adjusted. A week later another flood in my crawl space, there was about 5" of water above the pump. I hit the tethered (float) switch and the pump started running.
Today, I come home and notice my garage is full of water again. Looking in the crawl space, again there over 5' of water above the pump with the float switch in the upright position. The pump is not running, I hit the tethered (float) switch with a broom handle. The pump start running.
The pump works good, you just have to start it each time
This is the wort submerge pumping system with automatic turn-on I have ever had.

Alfa116, We are sorry to read about your situation. Of course, this is not how this pump was designed. As the float switch floats "up" the pump should automatically turn on. Considering this is not happening for you, please reach out to us at 844-883-1872 as we can ship out a new switch for you which should fix the issue rather quickly. Thanks.

We've been researching the best sump pumps to use within our home and have actually used not only this sump pump, but one from another company as well in hopes to compare the two. As a whole, this product is simply okay.
The install of this product was a positive factor. It was easy to install and the instructions contained in the box were easy to follow as well.
The pump itself doesn't have dual suction. The suction spot is at the base of the housing that sits on top of the stand.
The base itself is plastic, so not necessarily the greatest quality.
Overall, it seems to do the job, but not sure how long it will hold up.

1/2 HP Submersible Aluminum Sump Pump with Tethered Switch
The Everbilt 1/2 HP Submersible Sump Pump is built with an aluminum motor housing for efficient motor cooling. This pump has a tethered float switch that allows it to turn itself on and off automatically and it can pump up to 47 GPM (gallons per minute) with a 0-foot rise. Rated maximum lift is 25 feet. This pump comes with a 1-year warranty. This pump has built-in thermal overload protection. These pumps are built well and my old pump made by the same company has lasted well over 5 years but I decided I wanted a higher capacity pump just to be sure it can handle any future events in our ever changing climate.

So far so good.
The tethered switch kicks on without issue and the pump moves water quickly. It was easy to install and since it came with the multi size adapter I didn't need to purchase one for my hose.
I know longevity is always the issue with these pumps so only time will tell but for now I'm giving it 5 stars since it appears to be well made and it does work great right now.

This 1/3HP Sump pump is ideally used for a permanent installation and has a float tethered ball that needs plenty of space to operate properly and not get stuck.
The Everbilt pump started operating when the water level reached nearly 12” (a foot) and stopped at about the 5-1/2” water level.
Keep the intake clear of debris. When I pulled the pump out of the water some debris was found on the intake.
If you need to operate this pump manually you need to attach a line to the tethered float ball so you can gently pull the line up until the pump turns “on” and then hold the line until you no longer need the pump to operate.
A 1-1/2” FNPT (male threaded connection) or if using the supplied adapter a 1-1/4 FNPT (male threaded connection) is needed to attach more piping as needed to the final discharge point.
Water must be cool or “room” temperature. Hot water will trip the self-resetting internal thermal switch; even warm water could trip this switch. The switch will auto reset when the pump motor is cooled.
You’ll need minimum of 14” Diameter clearance for the tether switch to operate properly the more the better.
I used a 1-1/4” male NPT X 3/4” male GHT (threaded garden hose Adapter) is required if you are going to attach a garden hose to the discharge outlet, but expect reduce performance due to a smaller diameter discharge than the pump is designed for. And by doing so could also add extra stress on the pump overall when used for extended continuous use, but if the rise of the discharge is not too great than I would expect the pump will work just fine for light de-watering needs with a garden hose hook up just know that the discharge rate will be greatly reduced and slow. I would not use the garden hose set-up if the area to keep de-watered fills faster than about 2 feet per minute. That way you will ensure the area doesn’t become flooded.
What you get
-1/3 HP all contained tethered float discharge sump pump
-7’5” long 16 AWG Wiring plug rated at 300V
- 1-1/4 FNPT adapter.
-Overall great little pump for light to medium work. Perfect for the DIY’ers so be sure to READ ALL the directions on how to install and cautions about freezing levels, check valves, plug ins, etc.
I recommend this tethered float sump pump if you ever need to operate the pump manually. If not than I recommend the vertical float switch version of this same pump.

Surprisingly easy to replace my old pump. I thought this would be a job I would have to hire a plumber for, but since I was only replacing the old sump, I just followed the directions in a three easy steps after watching a couple of online videos to learn the basics. Once it was hooked up, I filled the basin to test it out and it ran fine. Now, I'm just hoping for less rain than last year. Another homeowner's chore: accomplished.

I ordered the Everbilt sump pump 1/4 HP 33 GPM
It was delivered to my house in a sturdy box that measured 9-1/2 L x 7- 1/2 W x 11- 1/2 H. When I opened the box inside contained the pump, owner's manual and a 1- 1/4 in. Adapter. Everything on this pump is black and the appearance of this pump looks like it's been made very well. The base measures in at 9- 1/2 L x 6- 1/2 W this is the actual footprint of the base and it's made out of thermoplastic. The top part of the pump is made of thermoplastic as well. And the middle part of the pump is anodized aluminum. This pump comes with a 7-ft cord. The pump is not too heavy at 7.2 lb. You will need at least 14 in. Minimum of basin diameter due to the tethered float switch. You also get a 1 year warranty.
I thought I would try this Everbilt sump pump out before I install it. I put the pump in a masonary mixing pan and filled it with water and turned the pump on. ( I will have pictures below ) I filled the pan with 20 gallons of water and it pumped it out really fast, under 40 seconds. I was very impressed with this unit. The pump itself is very quiet when it runs. What an excellent pump this is. This pump will handle 33 gallons per minute and that's a lot of water.
I have never installed an Everbilt sump pump, but it runs great and moves a lot of water, fast and the installation of this pump is very simple to install. I give this pump 4 stars because I'm not sure how long the pump will last, if it will last a long time I will definitely change this to a 5 star product. I do recommend this sump pump.

This Everbilt 1/2HP submersible sump pump with tethered switch was used to replace a pedestal sump pump that no longer worked. I went with this one because it also runs much quieter than the pedestal sump pump I had. When you lay the pump in the basin, the impeller is not immediately located at the bottom of the basin and I like that because the impeller will not suck any debris that is normally found at the base of the basin. Instead, this sump pump has top suction that is located 1 ½” from the bottom. I live in a high water table area and needed something powerful enough to push 40GPM @ 10 ft. This has more than enough oomph to get the job done. Since water is used for lubricating this unit, it is imperative that this pump don’t run dry, since damage will occur. Because of this, I take comfort in the fact that the tethered switch ensures the unit stops before the water level goes too low. This pump will turn on when water level reaches 11.8 inches and will shut off when water level reaches 3.9 inches. I went with the 1-1/2” discharge pipe but you can use the included adapter to use a 1-1/4” discharge pipe. Minimum diameter of basin is 14-inches and a minimum depth of 18-inches. I like that the pump comes with a 1 year warranty too :)

This Everbilt submersible sump pump is another quality product. It is one quarter horsepower and pumps up to thirty three gallons per minute. This model has a tethered float switch, not a vertical switch. It is one fifteen volts and needs to be plugged into a GFCI outlet.
Installation should be not be in dirt or sand, as it will clog up the pump. It should be in a clean dirt free hole. The instruction booklet is very good with text as well as pictures.
