Hot Water Pipe Insulation
Before the gyp-board guys close up the wall, I insulated all the hot water pipes (plumber usually flagged them with red). Make sure you check the size of your pipes. Most main branch pipes are 3/4" and minor branch pipes are 1/2" I'll report back (when we move in) to see if the foam actually keeps the hot water hot. That will help us save a lot of flushed out water when we use the shower.

Our company uses this product not as pipe insulation, but to cushion the airplane parts that we manufacture.
We purchase them by the box, then cut them to fit.
This product is always available when needed, and comes at an excellent price.

These are handy for insulating branch lines of hot water pipes so they take longer to cool down, particularly useful in hot water recirculation lines. I use HVAC foil or flexfix tape to seal the seams, regular duct tape will eventually fail which you do not want to worry about when you close this behind a finished wall/ceiling. It is a relatively light foam and therefore will not stand up long to friction when fitting into tight spaces. If you are careful it will serve you well.

I bought this foam pipe insulation because it was cheaper than trying to buy cushions or there of for my office chair. Pipe insulation was partially open and I had to open it more but hey, $2 for a long sleeve of this stuff. I realize now I have to have straps to hold it down but it works.
