Can it be used for cooking twine

Asked by Trish March 28, 2020

It is not food grade. That means the chemicals used in the processing could leach out into the foods it comes in contact with. The answer is you shouldn't because overtime the chemicals could build up in your body. That's my two cents!

I know it is called twine rope, it is thicker than upholstry thread. I use for tying vegetable plants. I would not worry about the chemicals unless you plan on putting this in your mouth. The chemicals are most likely used in the washing and processing of the cotton. Certain states now require all information be stated. In the old days they did not have to tell you. The string is very strong, at least I can't break it with my hands, maybe a man could but he would have to be strong. I hope you find what you are looking for.

Rope??? No, this is string but I love it.
Not rope more like a thick string near 1/16" of an inch thick. Reminds me of the string they use at the bakery only thicker and much stronger. I use this in the garden to hold up plants does not easily break. Has no chemicals and is biodegradable. Quite strong for my use and endured the summer season even though it got wet during waterings. I put in the compost. Since it has no chemicals it should be good in the kitchen too. Hope you like it as much as I do

Good old fashioned string. 100% cotton. Not sure what I was thinking but when the title says Rope I was expecting something thicker. This is the string we all know and love. The stuff used to tie a package or your newspapers before recycling. A great all around string to have on hand. Doesn't take up much space. Size of a baseball. Diameter of the string is about the same size as a the Kitchen string used for trussing birds and roasts. It implies it could be used in the kitchen since it has no chemicals or dies but I would play it safe and buy butcher twine. It's very strong. I couldn't break it with my bare hands as much as I pulled. Better than the Sisal twine if you need the strength Great for in the garden. It's more natural cream colored than white. In the past I have gotten a couple of seasons out of it before it degrades and starts to break.

Let me tell you about this string. This bad boy can stand hurricane force winds, a Texas twister, a full summer, spring, fall, and winter! Heck, it even tripped the mail man a few times. What it can’t stand, your neighbor’s wife weedeating. 10/10 would recommend.

This has to be the best 420 ft. Of 100% cotton twine rope I've ever bought. I mean, the way it can spool up and unwind is fantastic. They really knocked it out if the park with this #12 string. Keep up the great work string makers.
