Q:what are the names and production rates of each part of the latch?
by|Feb 13, 2022

Answer This Question

A:  We are unable to provide production rate information as that is proprietary. The Everbilt 2-3/4 in. x 1-1/2 in. Bright Brass Chest Latches have a strike, a latch (loop), and a latch plate.

Q:what is the height of the smaller piece that has 3 holes in it, will it work on a3/4"thick board

    Answer This Question

A:  I can't tell you the exact size, I gave the chest away. But I can tell you that if you want to apply these to the edge of a lid made from 3/4" thick boards, it will not work, there will not be enough "meat" to secure the screws. If you look closer at the product page I think you will find a link to a measured drawing that shows the full dimensions. The chest I made with these was about 18" high to the top of the "box" and it's lid had a 1-1/2" thick frame to match up with the box and provide adequate framing for the latches and the hinges..

A:  The height of the smaller piece of the Everbilt 2-3/4 in. x 1-1/2 in. Oil-Rubbed Bronze Chest Latches that has 3 holes in it is 1 inch. We do NOT suggest using this item on a 3/4" thick board since the smaller piece is 1” height which will be higher than the board and there is little space left for the screws which will easily loose and fall off.

Waste of time, money , and resource.
Bought these latches for an Antique utility box. Within minutes the Latch Catch fell out of housing, on both latches. Manufactured poorly they will never work properly. Shame to ruin a box with drills holes to find a sub-standard product.

This set is something I purchased to use as a toddler’s busy board for my nephew. He loves being able to latch and unlatch these. If I were building a small chest, these would probably be one of the first choices for locking it. That said, the screws are fairly short, as you would expect for a finished chest. Also, there has been a little rust developing on one of the latches (probably from some spilled juice).

2-3/4 in. x 1-1/2 in. Satin Nickel Chest Latches NICE LATCHES, PERFECT FOR MY APPLICATION BACKGROUND: My son gave me an old clamshell toolbox. The latches were worn out. I got the chest latches to replace them. REVIEW: Nice looking set of latches. Sturdy enough to hold the chest closed. The sheet metal tool box wasn’t thick enough to use the supplied screws, so I used pop rivets. I liked the tabs on the latch bails that lock into holes on the top catch. SUMMARY: These did the job great. PROS: Locking tabs on the latch bails.

The 2-3/4 in. x 1-1/2 in. Oil-Rubbed Bronze Chest Latches were used on a storage room door I built. They seem to do the trick as far as holding it closed tight. The latches were simple to install with one being installed on top and bottom. They are not strong enough to handle too much weight but for my purpose they worked fine. Would recommend for any light duty latch need.

Very light weight metal. Much smaller then what they replaced. Look and feel cheaply made. I don’t expect them to last long.
