Product Overview

This Hollow Braid Polypropylene rope is not only extremely flexible but also lightweight. Each rope resists oil, water, gasoline and most chemicals. The perfect accessory for boating and camping, this rope is rot proof. Warning: Knots reduce the strength of the rope up to 50%, splicing is preferable. Do not use this product for overhead lifting, support of human weight or athletic equipment or other situations where personal safety or valuable property can be endangered. The working loads shown should never be exceeded. Shock (stress, jerk) conditions can reduce working loads by as much as 33%. Never stand in line with rope under tension; such rope, particularly nylon rope, may recoil (snap back). Never use this product to secure large flat surfaces or objects. All ropes should be replaced if signs of wear, such as broken fibers are apparent. Misuse can result in serious injury or death.
  • 100% polypropylene

  • Polypropylene is the only rope that floats which makes it an excellent choice for use around water

This polypropylene rope is bright yellow, so it’s visible in the water, in the grass, or in a tree. It’s light, and it floats, making it good for holding pool markers. It has a 110 pound working load limit, good for a crowd control barrier, and enough to carry some 2 x 4s on the roof of your car. It comes with a splicing tool, basically a pointed piece of hollow plastic that will draw a piece of the rope back through itself. It is mildew resistant and oil and gasoline resistant. There's a flyer with instructions for appropriate knots, and for cutting the rope in a way that prevents unraveling. There’s a handy chart on the back of the package showing the qualities of various types of rope — nylon, polypropylene, polyester, manila, and sisal. This polypropylene rope is not good on abrasion resistance, sunlight resistance, shock load, or temperatures above 150 degrees Fahrenheit. This is a handy, light, visible rope.

I have two 32 ft. extension ladders that I bought used with no ropes. All I had on hand, that was long enough, was some cotton fiber rope. That worked okay for about a year but now they're starting to fray and rot. This hollow braid polypropylene rope is a perfect choice for these ladders. To rope the ladders you need a loop on one end that connects to the bottom rung of the movable section. Home Depot sells rope clamps but I prefer to create an eye splice, with the included splicing tool, which is very simple to do. The 110 lb. working load rate is far more than is needed for this purpose and since the rope is made from a poly blend it's impervious to sun and weather so it should last a lifetime. Everbilt doesn't offer a warranty but like most products Home Depot sells there is a 90 day return policy.

My only complaint was that as soon as I took the rope out of the package and tried to unwind it, the rope became very tangled very quickly. I had to spend five minutes untangling before I could use it. Once I did that it worked very well.
