      A:  Hello John. I looked at the label on the tubing and it only says "mild/plain steel". Makes me assume that there are no exotic alloys in the making. It machines easily, drills easily, and files easily. Oh, and it will rust. I hope this helps you. Kind regards, Al

          This tube is very tube-like it is also a half inch outer diameter which is exactly what I needed for my project. The 1/16 inch wall thickness is also handy because it enables you to stick it to things via welding brazing or even drilling and tapping. The steel itself is of moderate quality generally hard but bendable and magnetic. This cuts easily with a hacksaw, but also on a metal cutting band saw. I would not recommend using other types of sauce as they are not designed for cutting the material this tube is made from. It was a little long which is why I had to cut it. It's not too long anymore because I cut it to size.
