A:  The Everbilt 5 in. Black Heavy Duty Gate Slide Bolt Latch can be used with gate material made of Vinyl or Wood.

A:  When mounting, make sure your gate is closed and properly lined up so when you put the lock on the gate it will correctly slide into the mount properly. Proper assembly is the best option, putting one Gate Part on first I found was easier for me, then I could mark off the mounting holes for the strike plate on the post for proper and secure assembly. The strike plate you need depends on your gate assembly.

A:  Depends on your gate configuration. For mine I used the surface mount and used a 2inch drill bit to mitre the strike plate hole for the latch. Only note, make sure you mount as close to the strike plate as possible and test the opening and closing of the gate before installing. Secondly, there are some instructions included in the package to indicate pilot hole drill bit size etc. I did three gates and for one of mine I had to add a filler piece of wood for the latch to be in the right place again depends on your configuration I wanted mine on the inside of my gate.
