Can I get this with a gold handle? If not, can I put my old gold handle onto the new arm?

yes

can the metal part of the lever be bent to accommodate for the angle needed in some front mount left flushing toilets?

I bent it. I was afraid that might weaken the metal (I had to bend it three times before it was bent enough, used different bend points each time), but it hasn't broken yet. And I put it on...five minutes ago. So it appears to be good after bending for at least one flush or five minutes. See my review for some pictures.

Does it fit Glacier Bay toilets

So as not to mislead anyone, I don't have any idea. I installed mine on a American Standard toilet. Suggest you take a close look at your existing flush handle, how it appears on the inside of the tank, then go to the Store to make your purchase.

How do you stop the handle from flopping around?

This is a standard model made to fit the typical toilet tank. It should not be cut or modified. It fits tanks with a left side mount and has 3 holes one the end of the lever to give you options on adjusting the chain length that controls the separate flap.

The arm is 8 inches long. The body is round and the lever where you push is tapered to the endaway from the pivot. See the photo.

need tank lever for the side-glacier bay toilet tank---not on the front!

Because of the right angle design of this handle and lever, it probably wouldn't work in a side mount configuration.

Should there be a rubber washer between the handle and the tank? The new handle just flops around.

Asked by DIYer August 16, 2015

No, the issue is the distance between the plastic part the attaches to the tank and the arm that activates the water release. There is a bend just as the brass rod exits the part and turns towards the water valve. This distance, on mine, is about 1/8 inch and if it were less, say 1/32 inch of so, the floppiness would disappear. It might be possible to get a plastic washer with the proper opening and notch it so it would get past the flattened part of the arm and firmly fix it to the plastic screw piece the take up that slack. If you did that, the 'floppiness" would go away and the handle would be steadier. The washer could be attached to the arm or the plastic screw but not both - that would immobilize the arm. Some silicone sealant might do the trick if the motion is too bothersome.

This Everbilt tank lever has a nice chrome design on the handle and the lever is made with durable metal. I prefer metal as plastic levers tend to crack over time. It has a great price for a product of this quality!

Broke after 3 days. Still works but handle flops around and points straight up after use. Always seemed a little loose and floppy. I will be buying a different brand with hopefully better quality in the near future.

My old one had the plastic white retainer nut that holds the lever to the tank disintegrated, it just crumbled, so I went to get a replacement, they just don't sell the nut by itself. So I got this universal replacement and I have to say oh well, quality wise it is okay, but once installed it just doesn't seem to look right, sure it fits sort of, but it just sticks out a bit more than the original one, and the jiggle of the handle is not as smooth. I think you call it "play", it has a lot more play than I would like. Has that it may fall off feel to it, even having tighten it to the tank. Maybe that will get better with age. So for a decent replacement, this will do, but does it has the feel and workmanship of the older tank levers, maybe not. Its all that is available now.

Too Big!
My last handle corroded and broke so I opted for this plastic option. the installation instructions are terrible but the company has a YouTube video that clears things up. My real issue is the size of the thing... It is so big the toilet seat rests on it. I could see this being a common issue for front located levers.

Bought this about 1 year ago to replace the original hardware on toilet original to my 1970s house. Recently found that lever would not stay horizontal - it turns up to the ceiling. While you can still flush... The plastic component on the outside of the toilet tank cracked, a small piece fell off which would I guess hold the flusher in the correct place. BAD QUALITY IF IT CAN'T LAST 1 YEAR!

Poor, wobbly fit from the beginning. Worked ok for a couple of months...UNTIL the tiny plastic stop piece broke, making the handle point straight up. Thought the first one had to have been defective, so took it back to Home Depot and got a replacement. Same sloppy fit. The only difference was that the tiny plastic stop piece on the second one broke after a few WEEKS gentle use instead of a couple of months. Handle pointed straight up again. Terrible design that relies on the cheapest, thinnest plastic parts available. Save your money. AVOID THIS PRODUCT unless you really enjoy taking things back to Home Depot and working on your toilet over and over and over.
