Answer This Question
A: I do not recall if it said on the packaging. Most likely it’s being produced in China or another Asian country.Â
Having used several of these myself, all I can say is that they work well. I have had no issues with these.Â

A:Â The Everbilt Satin Nickel Latch Adjustable Ball Catch is meant to be installed on the top of a door slab. This will not fit where there was a door knob hardware set.

A:Â While I guess that the ball/spring could go on either the door or the frame, all doors that I have installed have the ball on the door, and the catch on the frame. Generally plenty of room for the ball assembly hole in the door. Perhaps not room in the frame.

Bronze finish scratched immediately
Bronze finish scratched immediately… I will probably just spray paint my old latch and have better results that way. At least the ball function works fine. I was happy that they are adjustable.

Poor finish quality
Functionally these are fine. Easy to install and they work. The finish on the other hand is terrible. This isn’t close to satin finish. The catch plate was clearly a mirror finish chrome look and it appears as if they ran a wire wheel over it to rough it up. It wouldn’t be as noticeable if the texture was consistent but they missed spots on all of them.

Garbage Quality - Not Recommended
The 40 year old hardware I removed (although tarnished) was much better quality than this. The bronze finish wears off the strike plate the first time the ball touches it.

Good but not all pieces matching
I love that I can move the ball catch up or down to allow for different door heights. This is perfect.
However I had to buy a lot of these for doors in my home and some packages had a different top piece. One package shows the square edges (matches product picture) and another had rounded edges. They are similar but completely different pieces. Also, some packages were not sealed well and had opened and lost screws. Luckily I was replaced existing latches so I was able to re-use the old screws.

Easy to install, interesting design but poor quality
I purchased the adjustable ball catch to replace the old ones from few closet doors that were not closing properly anymore. I struggled a bit to remove old ones at first, I put the new one into place but when I used for the first time the ball popped out from the casing and there was no way around fixing it other that returning it to Home Depot.
I don't recommend the product. Unfortunately there aren't many options in the store. Eventually return it and buy one that seem ok.

One of the door latches on my office doors needed to be replaced. I bought 2 of these door latches. Had to drill small holes for these new latches to install them but that wasn't hard to do. Got that done on both doors and the new latches are working fine. You can adjust the height of the ball by manually screwing it up or down so it catches on the top plate in the top rail of the door frame. An easy repair.
