Product Overview

Talk about red AND ruffled. This new crape myrtle has distinctly different, carnation-like, glowing red flowers that show beautifully against the lustrous dark green foliage. Foliage turns orange-red in fall. The habit is upright, but compact, with dense branching. Like the others in the Magic series, Ruffled Red re-blooms in late summer if the first flush of flowers is deadheaded. It is also resistant to Cercospora leaf spot and powdery mildew, which is quite a breeding accomplishment in red crapes. At maturity it can reach a height of 12 ft. and a width of 8 ft. USDA ZONES: Zone 7, Zone 8, Zone 9.

    Charlie Brown tree
I ordered the largest 3 gallon size, but what I received was a poor scraggly charlie brown looking tree, it only had 2 stalks growing thru the soil, many of the branches had none to just a few leaves, not even close to the photo on the web site, I'm super disappointed with my delivered tree, since I paid about $45, I feel a little scammed that I was sent the end of the season bottom of the barrel left over. But since reading all the reviews for this specific myrtle tree, I am encouraged and hoping to see some good growth this coming year. I dug out a hole that was 8 times larger than the pot that it was delivered with, I planted it using new potting soil that was mixed with a bag of steer manure blend, keeping my fingers crossed that it survives this coming Seattle winter.

Based off the image provided with this review, this plant is NOT a crape myrtle and definitely not a Ruffled Red Magic crape myrtle. If this is what you received we will need pictures emailed with a hang tag and home depot order number. Please contact us info@plantmegreen.com PlantMeGreen

Y'all come back and change this to 5 stars when your crape myrtle EXPLODES in color next spring/summer after waking from dormancy. :) Crape myrtles are deciduous and go dormant for a few months in the fall/winter. PlantMeGreen
