About This Product

The Flowerwood Japanese Boxwood is a reliable broadleaf evergreen selection with beautiful and petite light green leaves. This is a classic choice for pruning into sharp-edged box hedges and topiaries. Left untrimmed, it has a naturally rounded growth habit and reaches 3-6 ft. tall and 3-6 ft. wide. Deer problems? The Flowerwood Japanese Boxwood is one of the least desirable snacks around for deer! This variety is hardy from USDA Zones 6-9 (between -10 to 0°F) once fully established in your landscape. It grows well in Full Sun to Partial Shade. Plant in average garden soil with good drainage. Water 2-3 times per week for the first growing season. Fertilize in Spring with a balanced slow-release fertilizer. These boxwoods are well-rooted in a 2.5 Qt. pot and tend to range from 7-12 in. tall.

by|May 4, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Japanese Boxwood is a compact and slow-growing evergreen shrub that typically reaches a height of 3 to 6 feet. Its small and dense foliage, along with its ability to tolerate pruning, makes it a popular choice for hedges, borders, and ornamental landscaping in smaller spaces.

Q:Do these have a cat urine smell like the English variety?
        by|Nov 18, 2021
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  Japanese boxwoods (Buxus microphylla) are generally not known for having a cat urine smell like some English boxwood varieties (Buxus sempervirens). However, individual perceptions of plant odors can vary, and some people might detect different scents or find that environmental factors influence the aroma. In general, Japanese boxwoods are preferred in landscapes because they are less likely to emit unpleasant odors compared to some English boxwood types.

I should of ordered the one quart since the plant was the same size as a one quart BUT they just placed it in a 2.5 quart. Very disappointed but this is a learning experience when you can not hand pick them
