Happened to me too repeatedly with the convection microwave version of this product and the appliance repairman said it's not repairable without ordering several major parts. He did say that the cause of this is opening the door mid-cycle without pressing "stop" first can cause this after a few years. Well, this microwave is probably only 2 years old...not planning on buying a Frigidaire replacement based on what I'm reading!
It needs to vent from the outside so no. If you have ventilation in those cabinets reaching outside it will.
Yes. I have an external vent. I watched the installers as they worked. The unit defaults to internal venting. They had to turn the vent fan ninety degrees to set it for external venting.
No, the filter is underneath. Easy to install.

Hi JE. Yes, there are LED lights on the bottom of the microwave that will provide plenty of light for cooking! ~ Anna
No.

Hello, Grog. Yes, you’ve described RECIRCULATING or NON-VENTED DUCTLESS installed. Check out page 20 of this model’s “Use & Care” guide for further details. If you have any additional questions about installing this microwave, please contact your local Home Depot. -Derrick
Venting to the outside is an option. If it doesn't vent outside the microwave will suck in from the bottom and exhaust through the top, in front of the kitchen cabinets.
