Product Overview

The all-purpose design of the Fiskars X15 Chopping Axe makes felling trees quick and easy. Like every X-Series hatchet or axe, the X15 combines balanced weight distribution, advanced blade geometry, an ultra-sharp edge and virtually unbreakable design to maximize performance. This combination of features allows the blade to bite 3 times deeper when chopping. With more blade penetration on each swing, you can chop more wood in less time, with less effort and hand strain. A lifetime warranty underscores its durability.
  • Assembled dimensions: 7.5 in. W x 1.75 in. D x 26.75 in. H
  • Chops up to 3 times deeper than a traditional axe to chop more material faster
  • Perfected balance and power-to-weight ratio increases swing speed to multiply power, much like an aluminum baseball bat
  • Inseparable insert-molded head will not loosen and prevents overstrike breakage
  • Shock-absorbing FiberComp handle is lightweight yet stronger than steel to prevent overstrike damage
  • Low-friction blade coating powers through wood and prevents head from getting stuck
  • Nonslip textured grip reduces hand strain and improves control
  • Hardened forged steel blade stays sharp longer than traditional axes
  • Proprietary blade-grinding technique provides a sharper edge for better contact and cleaner cuts
  • Protected by a lifetime limited warranty

What is the head weight?

Good question. Not sure, but I’ve seen it advertised at 3.6 lbs and mine feels about that. The vast majority of the weight is in the head which I’d estimate would be at around 2.5 lbs.

Can the 23 in X15 Fiskars Chopping Axe be used for splitting logs for fire wood too?

Yes, much easier to use for sizing splits for a small fireplace when the long axe is unwieldy.

Is the Fiskars 23 in X15 axe as good as the "discontinued" Fiskars 28 for chopping large trees or handling heavy duty chopping jobs?

Could i chop down a tree with this?

Sure no problem. Just remember to take a simple sharpening file or stone or whatever you like. The x15 blade sharpens quickly that's one of a couple things I really like about it!Fit nicely in a backpack or just carry handle that it comes with.

Awesome. Chops down pretty large trees with ease. We use this to replace a chainsaw. Tried others and they stunk in comparison. Get this one if you have serious chopping to do!

This is a great limbing / felling axe, and is compact to bring along for any trip or excursion. Super sharp! Swings easy! Take up in the tree, trim on the ground, fell a tree, this will do it. Slice 3” wet maple Limbs in one smooth swing. Ok for splitting small qty of kindling.
