Answer This Question

A:  I did run into some old paint peeling on my ceiling with this tape, but it was very few and far between, maybe a 1 inch spot here and there. Otherwise it did very well everywhere else.

A:  best to remove the tape within a day...otherwise the paint can set so hard that any on the edge will pull away the dried paint and cause the problem described.

A:  Frog tape will not peal the paint from your ceiling, that is what I used it for and it worked very well.

A:  When removing tape pull it back keeping close to piece / wall, not out. This will minimize lifting of old paint.

A:  It should not peel the paint off your walls as long as the wall paint isn't fresh and uncured (check the paint can for how long it takes the paint to reach its fully cured state). Unlike conventional beige masking tape, the frog tape's adhesive is designed to be easier to peel off.

A:  My experience with this tape is that you really need to keep the paint very light on the edge or it will seep under. And depending on how good the paint quality and or coats the tape could pull up the paint. I had good success with light coat at the edge and pull it up slowly. Hope that helps

A:  Maybe. It depends on the condition of your walls. I normally have no trouble with this tape pulling paint, but recently did a job where I was removing a texture from a ceiling and had to plastic off the walls. When I pulled the plastic and tape, it did remove some of the wall paint so I had to cut in the walls again to get a clean line. The walls had an older paint job and the corners were rough from the texture mud, so that probably contributed. If the walls are smooth, solid, and have a newer coat of paint the tape should release without pulling paint.

A:  Thank you for your question! The tape can stay on up to 21 days (7 days if exposed to direct sunlight) before painting as long as the tape is applied on a fully cured painted surface. The tape should be removed immediately after painting.

A:  I just checked a piece of tape that was over a month on satin painted wall. So it would depend on the wall. Is the wall bare sheetrock, wood, stucco, etc. Is the coating, flat, primer, satin, gloss, lacquer, stain, etc. Anyway for my wall that is satin paint over a month.

A:  I have left this tape on woodwork for several weeks without any problems. I would try not to let it go that long just to be safe. A tip I got from my local HD; just the hint of being dry to your touch. paint department head was to remove the tape almost as soon as you finish painting (a wall, for example). Pull at a 45 degree angle away from the painted surface. You will be amazed how nice the painted surface will turnout! Best painting tip I ever got. Good luck!!

A:  I personally have not left this tape on the wall longer than 48 hours. At this stage it still did a good job of sharp lines and easy removal.

                      A:  Smooth surface works best

A:  Rough texture, no. Medium texture still allows bleed so I would recommend being very conscious while applying the tape to press the tape down and using a foam brush to trim along the edge of the tape rather than any sort of roller. For fine, or no, texture, it performs ok if you are careful when applying it but you may still have a few touch-ups.

A:  Works great of smooth surface. You can't get a good seal on textured wall.

A:  This is a tough yet good question. I have not used this on a textured surface to date. In research if cutting in on a textured ceiling, pro's suggest to remove a small, very thin line of the texture between the ceiling and the wall, then paint or prime. I cannot say that this will stick properly to the textured surface. And I would be cautious with any kind of tape, using it on a textured surface. A really tough tape could pull the texture off of it's surface. So, be careful. Other than that I use this Frog tape for all of my painting projects and other things that need adhesion as it is very dependable. Good Luck.

A:  I wouldn't. Very paint likely to seep under the tape. In my experience, the surface to be taped must be flat.

This tape is so worth the extra bucks in time savings alone. Love this tape so much that we color matched the tape and painted a bedroom that color. Heh. Sweet color.

Should have taken my chances without the tape. Now my ceiling needs to be patched and painted. No matter how I peeled this tape, it took the ceiling paint along with it. Garbage

                                AWFUL
We used this to strip wood without stripping our walls and then to varnish the wood we stripped. We got this tape specifically because of its reviews, however, it was a nightmare. The tape took off so much paint when we were stripping- not a flake or two, but many huge chunks. We are going to have to sand or plaster before we re paint. We already had the tape and that damage was already done so we figured why not, and went ahead with using it for the wood finish. It leaked everywhere, despite having spent so long pressing the tape into the walls trying to prevent more damage. At this point it feels like ripping out the wall would make less of a mess- any kind of tape would have done better than this and we are so deeply disappointed

                                      Great item
Repainting my wife’s office at home was on our list of things to do. My wife wanted specific colors, but she also wanted an accent wall with stripes I’ve had issues with other masking tape where you could bleed under because the tape does not give you a sealed edge, frog tape was an option but I shade away at first because of the cost but decided to purchase anyway because I wanted to do the job right the first time. Boy I’m glad I did. The frog tape worked tremendously and the project came off without a hitch . Once again, you get what you pay for, so paying a little more for frog tape in my world was worth it. Thank you again for an awesome product.
