    Could be great
I have high quality Gama Sonic solar lights all over the place on my property. They are sturdy and have great long lasting batteries. This particular model just seems to disappoint me a bit. With a solar panel and battery that big it seems a little overkill to light a driveway or sidewalk. A solar light with half the lumens could do the same job if mounted on a pole. Now if this model had a USB port for charging small electronics it would be awesome. Perhaps a way to have numbers for addresses. I can imagine this in a country road marking a homes entrance.

SUPERBLY DESIGNED; ATTRACTIVE; LIGHT LEVEL INCREASES WITH MOTION; EASY TO INSTALL AND USE
The GAMA SONIC Solar Pillar Gray Motion Sensing LED Bollard Pathway Light is a superbly designed product. It is ingenious that there are solar panels on both sides of this light. It would be an impressive addition to one’s yard even if it never lighted. It looks like one of the Stones of Stennes. It seems unique that the controls setting the light level and turning it on are located on both sides of the unit above the motion sensor. To use, press the button once for high level, twice for low level, and three times for off. Another special feature is that the light brightens for 30 seconds when the motion sensor detects movement. All of the hardware is top quality - even the hex wrench is top of the line, not like what one would get for most installs. The installation is super easy if you are installing it into the ground. If installing into concrete, four holes would need to be drilled. Before installing in the ground, we are placing it in multiple locations to see which one optimizes appearance and light level. Thus far we have observed that it gives off an amazing amount of light even though we are past the autumnal equinox. It is an impressive, innovative product.

My first impression: this is no cheepo solar light. It is very well made. The case of the light is made of cast aluminum that is powder coated in very nice blue gray. It's actually 2 seperate lights, with 2 opposing solar panels that charge a very substantial battery. In the description it says it has a Lithium Ion battery, it's actually a LiFePHO4, which is better (it what Tesla is now using in their vehicles), a Lithium Iron phosphate battery which can be recharged 1.5 times more than a Lithium Ion battery. The manual says it's a 6000mah battery. The battery holder is labeled 26650, which is a battery size, typically 3.2v so there are 2x26650 in the battery container (matching the 6.4v output). They claim the light should last +3 years. I would say this is very conservative, it should be more than double that. Each side of the light has a motion detector, it is VERY sensitive, it detects motion from over 20 feet away. When it detects motion it brightens the light (doubles the output) while motion is still detected. Based on the push buttons selected, it will light up one or both sides. About 30 seconds after motion stops it lowers the light output to conserve the battery life. The motion detector works very well. Based on the 6000mah battery size, I'd expect the light could run 3 days without recharging. The large solar panels should be able to fast charge the battery with only a few hours of full sunlight. On the first day of fall, I know it lasted overnight (6:30pm-5:30am). The Solar Pillar is 32" tall. Each side of the light has a button to set the light output: high (500/250), low (250/120) and off. After 4 hours, the light will dim to either 250 or 120 and go back to full brightness 500 or 250 for 30 seconds when motion is detected. The pillar light weighs a little over 10 lbs. It comes with several methods to mount it: cement, wood or in the ground. The light output is 3000k (soft white). So if you prefer daylight or a whiter light so sorry. Given that there are many color changing LED's, I think they should have made the color output user selectable (given the price). I was going to use this at the front of my house where I already had some path lights that were bright white. This soft white didn't look right (but I loved the look of this pillar in that location. Anyway I ended up putting the light next to my pool pump. I've always wanted an automatic light in this dark corner of my back yard. With the included, large ground mounting stakes, it was easy to put there. And there the soft white will be fine (still wish there was a choice). If you choose to mount it to concrete or wood it also includes concrete anchors of the appropriate size. The mounting plate itself is a pretty thick powder coated steel (that should not rust). In the photo you can see how the base mounts to the anchor. There are 4 stainless steel 'allen' screws to mount to pillar to the base once it secured. This is a very well made, modern looking light. It is one of the highest quality solar lights I've found. It's made of metal, it has a large lithium iron battery pack, which should last a long time and it has a very large set of solar cells to charge the battery. And because it's solar there's no wiring, which makes it very easy to install. I certainly recommend it (I just wish the light color could be changed, it would make it much more flexible).

GAMA SONIC Solar Pillar Gray Motion Sensing LED Bollard
If you are looking for a quality, commercial-grade lighting product for your home or yard, this is the way to go. I was seriously impressed by the design and the quality construction of this light and at 31.25 inches high, it is definitely makes a statement in it's appearance. It can be positioned directly into the ground by using the included ground stakes, mounting bracket, bolts and securing screws. If desired, it can also be mounted into concrete with the included concrete anchors. We wanted to test it out first before placing it in it's permanent location, so we used the ground stake method and were were surprised at how stable it is. It operates on either high or low output: high is approximately 500 lumens; low can be between 150 - 250 lumens. It shines steadily for several hours at the chosen light level, then drops to the lower level. Any motion sensed will bring it back up to the higher level. It operates from dusk to dawn, as long as it is away from other light sources, and can be set to light from both sides or one side only. This is, by far, the brightest solar light that we have used to date and we are very pleased with it. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a quality decorative light for paths or walkways.

      Gama Sonic is Awesome!
I love love love Gama Sonic Solar lighting! There is one side of my house that is just pitch black and needs light at night. Not just for me, but for my dog as well. Just one of these is the perfect solution for this. It is very bright (on Hi) and after a while will dim down but motion will click it back to full brightness again. Perfect! There is also a lower light setting you can choose. It was so easy to install inground. Just bang the stakes in with a mallet, set the bottom plate on top of them and bolt, then slide the light onto the bottom plate and screw to the sides. Tool is included. The quality of Gama Sonic products is superb and you can absolutely feel that when you hold their lights in your hands. They are heavy duty and made to last with just a little care; wiping them clean once a month. They are put together with care and alot of thought. There are instructions included on how to change the batteries when the time comes. This light is made so well and is so discreet because of it's design. It's practically flat. I placed mine right next to my house and I feel good knowing that I can easily move it if and when I decide to. I plan on making some changes this fall so this beautiful light has come at just the right time to help me clean up and simplify my side yard. Excellent quality piece and nothing but the most positive things to say about it! Highly, Highly recommend.

I am so happy I ordered this gamma solar light. It is so reliable and also saves me money on my light bill. I can place it on my deck and turn the deck side on or the driveway side or both. The installation is really easy and study. The light is built well because I dropped it down the steps and except for a couple scratches on the body the thing works great. If you need outdoor lighting I would surely give this thing a try.

The Solar Pillar Commercial Gray Motion Sensing Integrated LED Bollard Light looks like a piece of art. Upon arrival, I used the included ground stakes to put the light in a deep planter filled with pea gravel to charge for the full two days per the instructions. In addition to the ground stakes the unit came with options for mounting on a concrete slab. I thought that the height and shape of the unit would make it tippy but that is not the case, it is completely stable. The lamp has 3 settings: High, Low & Off. After four hours of operation the light dims to half brightness until reverting to full brightness for 30 seconds when motion is detected. This light would be wonderful in a flower garden to add vertical interest during the day and illumination at night.

So I installed this panel right by my grill hoping that it would put out enough light at night when i'm doing cooks throughout the night, and while it does a great job of collecting sun light and putting light out, I do wish it was a bit brighter. There are multiple brightness levels, but at high, it doesn't put out enough light to handle the scenario i'm looking for. That being said, I think it will work great by our gate when people come over at dusk to give some more light. Make sure you are in direct sun light. See how to install in my pics.

First of all you can choose from high or low settings at the flip of a switch and you can choose from a maximum output or low or even turn it off. Another cool feature is that lights on both sides I currently just needed to light on the one side and I have the flip side turned off. The pictures I've included show you the low setting. What I love about it is that it shines for up to four days when fully charged and sitting on the low beam option the light will turn on automatically at dusk and shine at 4 hours at its brightest setting and then after 4 hours it will dim to a lower setting when it detects motion through the sensor after the first 4 hours it will ride into the maximum Lumen output possible for it settings for 30 seconds. The only thing I would suggest is when it comes to the directions on how to install it... it just didn't make sense to me so what I did is when it came time to putting it into the ground; I went ahead and attached the two stakes to that bottom piece and I pounded that into the ground first and then I set the light on top of that and then screwed that piece in...it's a thousand times easier to do It My Way :-) It's a super cool solar light and have been bragging about it to family and friends!
