Is it safe to use with a dryer?

Asked by Johnny March 20, 2018

Most dryers use a 220V connection and would not work with this plug.

What other "appliances" is this plug safe for? A few examples would be great!

Anything rated 110 volts with a maximum ampere rating of 15.

Very easy to install, the orange color makes it very easy to find the end of the cord. It takes anywhere from 16/3 to 12/3 GA wire. Very versatile plug. It is rated for 15 amps, 125 volts. Excellent for use power tools and other appliances and they plug into the wall snugly and do not come up plugged easily. The plug has a nice grip, very easily to grab.

For a heavy duty design plug. Firstly it given you a bright Orange color as one of the safety factor. Especially, when you working in complex area, then you can easily identify your coonector where they are. Its structure is good two. Its has two different material build in one housing, outside is a soft rubber feel orange color housing. Inner is clear harder plastic to support its toughtness. So, if you squeeze on it you will feel is not a soft rubber. Molding is fine and the metal for the connector is well present as a quality brass and strong clamp to hold the wire preventing the tightness of the wire won't be loose easily. Also, the innet hole for the wire is big enough even you use 14 guage wire. Over all this connector is much differ than other made. Check it out yourself and compare with the other made. Let see how much you may like it.

Every house should have one of these in the repair drawer. When you need a replacement plug this one from GE is a good one It has 3 screws holding the plastic inner section to the rubbery plastic outer section. There is a slot so you cant put it back together wrong,it is real easy to use.The back has a clamp so the wires don't move and stay in place. It is nice and solid just don't over tighten screws and you are good to go.

The plug sturdy. The directions were too small to read I took a picture of the directions so I could read them. The screws that hold the plug end into the surrounding base are easy to remove and reinstall after putting wiring onto plug. To install you remove the 3 holding screws on the face of the plug. Then you slide out the end from the cover. Then you cut 2 inches of the insulation from the cord to be installed. Then you strip 1/2 inch of each wire. You insert the whole cord through the cover. You screw the WHITE wire into the silver screw. You screw the BLACK wire into the gold screw. You screw the GREEN wire into the green screw. You slide the face back into the cover and rescrew the face screws back into place. The last thing you do is to push the cord into the cover and fasten the back screws on the clamp to secure the cord.

If you're like me, you have dozens of extension cords which means you'll eventually have to replace an end. I've learned not to use cheap plastic cord connectors. This is a well made heavy duty 3 prong connector that should last. The connections are all brass and use screws to connect the wires. The metal clamp that prevents strain on the connections is heavy and will securely hold the cord. I don't anticipate needing to replace this one anytime soon.
