Questions & Answers

Anyone else have water drip on the floor from bottom of the door?

Seems like the vent produces condensation on the door and then drips all over the floor. We just installed new wood floor and wondering if this is normal or some kind of defect?
Asked by: Jake
Yes, after a year it started leaking. There is a plastic vent piece on the inside part of the door that pops off due to the expanding metal inside when it heats up - then all the water has a clear way out - all over the floor.

How do you know when cycle is done Does light go out

Instruction not helpful
Asked by: Mark
Hi Mark - The dishwasher has a bi-color LED status light. The indicator light on the door front will change color to indicate the wash status. During the wash cycle, the indicator light will be amber. When the wash cycle is complete, the light will change to green. For reference, see Cycle Status on page 9 of the Owner's Manual: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-55119-1.PDF - We hope this is helpful. First model I received had the plastic "door shut" indicator tab snapped off, so it wouldn't run. Had to wait another week for a replacement unit - ironic that a small plastic piece would render the whole inoperable. Flash forward 9 months later, the other plastic piece on the inside of the metal door (a threaded circle-shaped vent cover) pops off every other time we run it because the metal door expands and contracts due to temperature of the wash cycle. Problem is there isn't enough thread depth to keep it in the door. It pops off, slides down by the heat elements and melts, then water leaks through the open hole and all over the floor. Now the little flap for the soap doesn't open during the wash cycle, and it's stuck on "rinse." Really hoped this would've been a great upgrade from our last one - but now after two faulty units in a year's time I'm seeing that's not the case.

Who ever put the blue protective cover on the front panel, scored the plastic with a sharp knife and scratched the stainless steel about a foot long. The dealer replaced the dishwasher and I installed the other one. The drip pan is almost impossible to replace after the washer is installed. I spent almost an hour trying to get it installed working in a 3 inch space on the floor. Good thing that I got the pan installed as when I started the first wash cycle, water started dripping from the drain pump. If I had done about 5 wash cycles, the drip pan would have overflowed. Now the dishwasher has to be taken out and repaired. I have installed 4 dishwashers during the time span of 40 years in the same location and this was the hardest install as the quality has gone to the dogs. The side trim is hard to install and does not stay in place very well. I could go on and on about the poor quality... They sure don't make things like they used to. This will be my last GE product......

Randomly clogs 75% of the time, we efficiently (thus inefficiently) pre-wash our dishes in the sink, but even so this washer insists on clogging and driving us nuts since there is no blockage to be found! Also this dishwasher is quickly becoming damaged by every bump and scrape, the surface is fine but the parts are snagging and becoming bent or popping off completely. Our last washer lasted 25 years and sustained FAR less damage from casual kitchen use, a couple of worn out buttons and a few scuffs, but this machine has whole pieces coming off after just over a year! On the plus side this washer is quiet and the controls are great, my favorite is the updated wash timer that self adjusts. The 3rd rack is definitely helpful, it’s completely crushed the controversy over utensils being loaded pointed up or down!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So Far This is Great We had a whirlpool dishwasher that was installed in the house when we moved in. It worked fine but was not top of the line. Finally the dishes coming out were more dirty then when they went in so time for a replacement. We shopped and compared many brands and settled on this one, and I am happy we did. We have had this for about a month and it is great. It is indeed quiet and the dishes come out very clean. It is easy to load and versatile because of the ability to change the tines in the racks. Things place don the third rack even come clean. The adjustable upper rack is nice when putting bigger items in the bottom. One thing that people never mention is the silverware basket. I will mention this one because we love it, the design and the way it can be take apart to fit what is needed is great. One warning, if you use the heat dry beware. We used it once and it does heat up the dishes. If you use this option give the dishes plenty of time to cool down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice features/Works Well! We purchased the GE Adora dishwasher based on our positive experiences with our other GE appliances. We have not been disappointed! The stainless steel interior has plenty of room for dishes and flatware. It also gives you the option of washing only the top or bottom racks. An adjustable top rack is a must for me and this one is easy to use. I wasn't sure I would use the third upper flat rack but it has been handy for larger cooking tools (knives, tongs, etc.) It can be removed if necessary. Cleaning the filter is also easy, just a rinse or slight brushing. If I could tweak one thing it would be the rinse dispenser. The opening is not very large and it would be nice if it had a gauge that actually showed the level of rinse aid. Minor stuff for me. Above all else the Adora does a great job of cleaning and is extremely quiet! My litmus test for cleaning is my tea mug. It's clean, every time. I can not hear it running even if I'm standing near it. It's been a great machine so far.

Got on Special Buy, etc for just under $500 and can't complain about that at all. Pros: Pretty quiet. Has a grinder! Has REAL heated dry!! Also has fan assist dry. Drier vent down at bottom of door so it saves your cabinets (maybe not as ideal for floor but seems okay). Extra rack up top for silverware. Detergent dispenser door slides open up instead of swinging out so you don't have to worry about large plates blocking it from opening. Status light on front to let you know what's up. Full stainless interior. There's cool LED lights at the pump motor connections underneath! (You'll never see them but it's neato. haha) Seems to clean well with no issues. Cons: Doesn't automatically restart when you open the door during the cycle, so you have to remember to hit start each time. (Upside, it does beep at you to remind you). Settings can be a tad confusing to figure out. NO FULL MANUAL INCLUDED, you have to go online to get it. About all I can think of right now.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it except for one thing! We have had this dishwasher installed for about 2 months now. Pros: quiet!, love the 3rd upper rack, the lower rack fits our dishes and bowls perfectly, cleans well, controls are easy to operate, the silverware basket is great. Cons: I only have one, but it is a BIG one. The location of the soap dispenser. It took us about a month before we encountered a big problem. If you put anything in the lower rack close to the soap dispenser, it inhibits the opening of the soap dispenser door and the dishes do not get clean. This has happened to us 3 times now. If they had just made the lower rack a bit shorter, this would not have been a problem. Even something as simple as a skinny water bottle will cause this problem. The workaround is to not put anything in the middle of the lower rack closest to the door. But that is wasting valuable dishwasher real estate. But all in all we are still happy with our purchase but slightly disappointed that is not a 5 star dishwasher.

I am in the contracting business so I know this stuff happens. My complaint isn't so much about the product, but the service behind it, after calling GE customer service twice, to get some one to come repair it, it has been all down hill from there. Technician showed up 1/1/2 weeks later then they were supposed to, diagnosed the problem, ordered either the incorrect part, or GE shipped the wrong part, which took two weeks. The Technician ordered the correct part, which took another two weeks, and just showed up today to install, and guess what, the replacement part is missing parts. So to summarize, I paid just under $600 dollars for something that lasted not even 1 year, its going on just about 7 weeks that it has been broke, and its still not repaired. I had reservations about buying appliances from Home Depot, and they were just confirmed....
