Garage Ready 17.3 cu. ft. Frost Free Defrost Upright Freezer in White

We shopped around quite a bit for a new upright freezer for our garage. We wanted a large unit with all the shelves in places that would actually benefit. We liked the drawer at the bottom as well. This unit seemed to tick all the boxes. Ordering was easy and the unit was delivered in under a week. Couldn’t ask for anything more. Hopefully this will give us many years of service.

Supposedly garage ready unit completely failed after 4 years. Lost $500+ worth of stuff in there. Just completely and wholly unacceptable and I cannot recommend against this piece of garbage more strongly. Should get at leaset 10 years out of it and I feel I should be getting either a partial refund or a massive discount on a new unit. Never again with any GE product, ever.

Bought a GE upright freezer on July 5th. The freezer keeps alerting that it has a high temperature. Called for repair on July 8th. They sent out a repairman, and he ordered 2 parts. One came, and one is on backorder. Received a call on July 20th about the backorder. Bodewell (GE repair/warranty company) said they would get back to me. On July 23, I received an email stating they would get back to me on July 29th. Meanwhile, the repairman came and put in the part that came. Of course, the problem part is the one they have backordered, and now the part is not found until August 10, if they can find it. Running harder than it needs to, freezing my food and causing freezer damage, and probably burning out faster because of all this. They will not take the unit back or issue a refund. This is not customer service; they are just playing the game until you give up. The product is defective. Never worked properly from day 1. Oh, and to top it off, the first time I called the 'customer service' person told me it was because it was in the garage (garage ready unit claiming to work in 110-degree temps) then it was because other items may be plugged into the same circuit it needed a dedicated service electric line (almost no one in America has a dedicated line for a freezer in the garage. Plus, the manual does not require that, and a previous freezer worked fine there). So, the reason the freezer was not working correctly was my fault. It was broken before I got it, but it was my fault. Nice. Never buy GE again.

This is a replacement freezer for an Amana that we had for 11 years. This freezer is very well made and the quality and workmanship seems to be well above average. It froze very quickly and we have throughly enjoyed it.

This unit replaced the 24 years old Kenmore freezer in the garage. The delivery by Alez and Corey was speedy and efficient. Comparing with the old unit, this unit is quiet, with much shorter run time (noticeable). The LED inside light is pleasing. The small/short size fits perfectly under the shelf.

I love the freezer BUT a week or so later when I got on a ladder to dust it, I found it had a huge dent in the top corner!! I’m trying to get with the company about that now!!

I bought this freezer in October 2023 and it worked fine until last fall. I lost so much food! So only 2 years did it work. I did not buy the extended warranty so I had no options but to pay out of pocket for repairs. I paid a repair guy over $300 for repairs because they said that it was the relay. It did not work! I then decided to get another repair person instead of trashing it. I just paid a repair person $250 because he said the switch at the top was bad and the door hinge cover (wish is such trash) was broken. The freezer worked for 6 days! I was so excited that I bought a bunch of meat to fill the freezer. Yesterday, I opened it to get meat out and everything was thawed! I am so tired of this freezer and the many problems it has! But I paid so much for it, and now I am over $500 in repair bills and it is just sitting here empty. Junk junk junk!

GE freezer is garbage. Don’t buy it. Burned out in three years.

Purchased Nov 2023. Has failed completely as of June 26, 2026. Worked great, then failed without warning. No alarms, just a puddle in garage. GE is not as good as it used to be. Buy extended warranty if available. You will need it.

It only takes 5 minutes for installation. My wife really enjoys this upright freezer which carries a lot of spaces to store frozen food or drinks. This freezer is so much convenient as we can firstly cook food
