It is very easy to sink the button to the chime. This chime comes with very easy to understand directions. You can also pair 1 button to two chimes and two buttons to 1 chime etc. This particular door bell gives you lots of options for whatever your specific need is. I needed to connect two chimes and two buttons together, but have each button give a different ringtone and was able to do so with this model. Here are the basic instructions for initial simple setup: 1. Remove the front cover of the push button housing by pushing a flat blade screwdriver into the slot at the bottom of the push button housing (there will be pictures showing these steps as well) 2. Install the included batteries with the positive (+) side up. 3. Keep the front cover off the push button until melody selection is complete. (Separate hint/tip: while setting up keep the chime and button together then you can hang up within the distance range) Selecting the melody: Select the melody by pushing the Melody Selection Button located inside the push button housing (will be a picture of this step). Press and release the melody selection button until you hear the desired melody. There will be a table to show you the order the melodies will be heard in. The last melody played will be your selected chime melody. And that's it! Very easy and works great!
No
The Melody Select button is not in the large battery compartment, but rather inside the "remotes" (if you will) with the button people push when they come to visit.
I dont know about extreme cold, but mine has worked in sub-freezing temperatures that were in the 20 degree range. So far I am very happy with this unit.
It's approximately the size of a 5 x 7 photo (Landscape). I do not have the unit with us, as we sold the home that the item is currently serving its purpose...ringing out chimes! It had a distinct bell for our front door and another for our back door. It was a great little unit for a good price point. I hope this helps.
The chime is 5" wide and 3 3/4" in height.
A 10 minute job
No light on the button & No indicator on the units when the batteries are running low
I change mine once a year just to ensure it works.
