DIY asphalt sealer
Purchased this to seal a driveway that had been sealed professionally 7 years ago, and to which I made cold pack repairs (Sackcrete and Quickcrete in cracks filled with Crackstick). I purchased 5 buckets to test coverage. In my application 5 buckets covered 870 square feet (174 square feet per bucket) including several coats on Sackcrete repairs (uses more product that flat, level asphalt). This was a single coat coverage which looked fine and I do not plan to apply a 2nd coat even though the directions recommend it. The coverage looks to be about 1/16th of an inch in my application. Based on that experience, I'm purchasing an additional 12 buckets for the remaining driveway. Pricey product, but still WAY less than hiring an asphalt company. The directions recommend THIN coats for a reason. I applied thick coats over the repairs and as the product dried, cracks appeared. It looked like the surface dries faster in the sun than the lower levels. As the surface dried, it shrank a bit and cracks appeared. It was easy to fix -- just step on the cracks as they dry and push them down, then apply product to fill the cracks. I should have paid attention to the directions as the problem did NOT occur in the thin layers applied with a squegee over the unrepaired asphalt. A couple tips. Use a broom to "cut in" the edges, like you would when painting a room. The broom was also helpful in filling voids, cracks and little holes. You actually can clean this up with water, so clean your squeegee at the end of the day. You'll also need to stir the buckets even if you turn them upside down overnight, but the stirring is not hard. When you turn the buckets upside down, put them on newspaper as 4 out of 5 of mine dribbled on the garage floor. No big deal unless you're a garage floor neatnik. Apply one bucket at a time, give it an hour or so to dry (which it will easily do if your driveway is in direct sun), then you can use your broom to brush in any missed spots and step on the product as needed to apply the next bucket. This is really messy stuff, so wear clothes and shoes you can throw away. Coverage on Sackcrete's asphalt repair is better than on Quickcrete's product. The latter has a pretty rough surface, which requires application with a broom working product into the patch and the patch takes a month or so to cure. In the picture, you can see the Quickcrete cold patch and what the driveway looked like before and after applying the product.

Thanks for sharing your experience with Gardner Pro 7. Two thin coats are definitely the way to go for better, longer lasting results. Just used it and very satisfied
I have been repaving my driveway for the past 30 years. Usually repaved every 3-4 years. In the past I have used another product and it was ok--no major complaints. This year (last week --Sept. 3,2021) I decided to change products and used the Gardner Drive Seal 8. It made all the difference in the world. The product was easy to stir,--I had it turned upside down overnight prior to use. Then I stirred it with a mixer attached to my drill. Poured easily and was spread w/a squeegee even easier. Filled in the smaller cracks quite well due to the sand in the mixture. I let it dry 48 hours be4 driving on it but I could walk on it in 3 hours. The only draw back was the amount used. In the past, I have used 10 buckets for my driveway. This time I had to use 14 buckets but well worth the xtra cost. (I don't think it actually reseals 350sq/ feet.) Only time will tell how long the sealer will last be4 another reseal, but so far I have no complaints. (I do not expect it to last 8 years but 5-6 yrs will be great.)

Lots of peeling after the first rain... I initially did a light pressure wash on a clean asphalt driveway. I got some peeling on that section so scrubbed the rest with a stiff bristle brush and a TSP solution, then pressure washed. Same problem. I even tried moistening slightly before applying as other brands recommend that. Same issue. Temperatures were correct. I left overnight upside down to get solids mixed up then mixed thoroughly with a large paint mixer and drill. I squeegeed it on with lots of back and forths - It rained after a weeks drying and bubbled up and peeled in many sections. it just does not adhere well.
