10 Amp Single-Pole AC/DC Push Button Door Switch (1-Pack)

The original switch on my pantry door, which is opened and closed often, lasted 20 years. The second replacement switch lasted 4 years. After reading the reviews on this switch I decided to buy two at Home Depot since the local electrical supply house was closed for the holidays. I changed the switch two days before Christmas and Murphy’s Law dictates that the switch will fail at the most in opportune time which is why I purchased a spare. Well true to the law the switch failed on Christmas Eve approximately 36 hrs after it was installed. The second one is working, for how long is anyone’s guess! Luckily the install is very easy since the switch is an exact replacement of the previous switch. Update - the second switch stopped working properly after an hour! What happens is when the door opens the switch does not “click” on. Pressing the switch button quickly a couple times activates the “click” mechanism inside the switch and the light turns on but this defeats the purpose of having the convenience of not having to flip a switch. I even tried lubricating the switches with silicone spray thinking the switch was sticking but that did not solve the issue. I’ll certainly try a different brand from my local electrical supply house on my next purchase. I gave the switch a two star rating because they do work albeit manually but that is not what a door jamb switch is for!

This is my third door switch I buy it, is very easy to install and is great for small rooms like closet.

I only needed the switch inside of kit for replacement but price was affordable fair for my job.

Works great for setting up closet lights to turn on automatically when the door is opened. You can route it into the frame, but it's much easier to just mount it to the lip of the door near the side where the door hinges are, and connect it to the light overhead. Then remove the light switch so you don't accidentally turn the light switch off and prevent the automatic switch from working. Putting these on most of our closet doors.

I have installed 2 of these on closet doors to replace pull-chain light fixtures. In my opinion, these are the perfect light switch for such an application because you never need to think about turning the light on or off. The installation on an existing door frame is not easy, but worth the effort and time. One bit of difficulty is that there is not much room inside the box for wire connectors, so they need to be small. I have lived in 2 houses with these switches (my installation in the current house) over the last 15 years and would not be without them.

It was nice that you had this switch so that we could install a pantry light with door control. This worked perfect for this job. I liked that it is encased in it's own metal box and that it is flexible with mounting options. The box was just big enough to contain the wires.

I was happy to find the switches and they were easy to install and work great.

This switch lasted about 2 years. This particular brand was the only one I found that would fit in the door jamb where the old switch was. It fit perfect and looked great, but for $15 I expected to get significantly longer life out of it. Now the switch is in the always on position - so I had to disconnect the wiring to turn it off until I find another replacement. You should be able to just buy the switch instead of having to buy the whole housing and face plate as it just pops into the face plate.

Because I was replacing a broken one the blade terminals made it very easy to replace. Just had to remove the terminal from the old one and slide the them on the new one.

works well so far (only installed 2 weeks ago). Installation is easy with the exception of fitting feed wires and switch into box. switch design and wire connections take up way too much space in the box. I'd like to see company re-design!

I am using this switch as a door switch. This switch lasts about 1 year. I have now replaced it twice. I purchased 2 switches so I'll have another one when this stops working. I am recommending this product because if you have a push button switch you really don't have any other options other than rewiring the switch.

I've used this on several closets in my home so the lights go on and off with the opening and closing of the door. Think it should be a requirement for all closets that have lighting. Using a oscillating tool makes installation easy and clean. Highly recommended.
