Q:Why am I seeing questions on the color of the shower arm? It says Chrome it's coming in brushed nickle. I am ordering a full bathroom from home depot and reading many reviews and Q&A's I notice poor packaging, broken glass, missing pieces. I'm concerned.

A:  The one I bought was Chrome and I am very happy with it. I have ordered a lot from Home Depot for many years for home projects and I haven't had any issues with any of the things mentioned above.

The package states the finish or color as Chrome. The color looks like stainless steel rather than Chrome. Our faucets are Chrome and it really doesn’t match. Otherwise it works.

The 31" shower kit purchased at Home Depot came with the standard shower arm which wouldn't reach out far enough for my husband. The 8 in Shower Arm was the perfect length to place in the middle of the shower and not have it next to the inner walls. Now to purchase another for my bathroom.

        The threads show
I used this 8” chrome, shower arm with a new chrome showerhead and the threads show on both ends. Also, the “chrome” does not match any of the other chrome parts of the shower. It looks more like polished nickel. Luckily it does not leak, but I don’t like being able to see threads and plumbers tape. I used grey plumbers tape to make it blend better.

I have to agree with a lot of the reviews here about the threads not cut very well. Having read the reviews before going to a Home Depot and buying this, I tested out the arm prior to purchase. The threads are supposed to be the same on both ends but the first few did not work out so well. Both ends should screw into a shower head or into the 1/2 inch fitting inside the wall. In the store, I tried screwing both ends into a fitting and a shower head and some of the arms didn't pass the test. After a closer inspection of the threads, it was very easy to see that they were not cut well. After the 4th one, I found a good arm--which prevented multiple trips to HD. While there is a definite quality control issue going on with the 8" arms, it is possible to find a good one. Just ask a store associate to help if you are not familiar with plumbing products. My only wish is that the arms were available in 9 or 10 inch as well.

It looks like this is an ongoing issues with the treads. I have tried three different units and they all had thread issues on the shower head end. The shower wall end would screw into the wall adapter. The shower head end would not tread into two different shower heads that I tried. On the shower head end the threads are not formed correctly. The lead-in thread has the look of a Acme thread.

          Hello,
We are sorry to hear that your shower arm and flange are not threading on properly. The shower arm has 1/2" NPT thread on the wall side and 1/2" NPSM thread on the shower head side. If you need any further assistance, please give customer service a call at 877.319.3757.

Had a leak from old corroded arm. Unscrewed that one and screwed this one right in! Worked perfect! Only complaint is it screwed in tight but was pointing up. I had to use pot holder with grip and vice grips and some brute force to get it in position. I wish they would put some sort of flat edge to accept a wrench to make these easier to remove and install. The cover was tight but slid easy enough into place. I liked that it was tight and not loose like the old one. Don't forget the teflon tape! If your shower arm looks like my picture then pick up this new arm.

You should go with the slightly longer 8" vs 7" shower arm if you have an especially large shower head or maybe one with a handle coming out the bottom. This will give you more room to adjust the head up and down. This is a nice set. The flange will fit snug against the pipe and will not rotate freely.
